Hello all!

Our family has acquired two young budgies and we have been speculating on gender. We have had a few others and they were obviously females, but our two current ones have more unusual coloring. Marshmallow is a true albino and Arwen is mostly gray and black. We think both are probably pretty little girls, but Arwen has a lot of blue in her cere and Marshmallow being albino seems to have offered some color challenges in gendering. They have both just completed their molting. These pictures are without flash.

Anyone willing to give us a guess?

That is what I was wondering! When we first got Arwen in December the cere was very brown so we thought we had picked two hens, but over the past few weeks it has been increasingly more blue. The behavior between the two is also interesting, with Marshmallow’s personality much different than Arwen’s. We’ll check out more links since we’ve never had a mixed pair before.

The children inform me Arwen Evenstar has been rechristened Mr. Darling.
