As I was shopping today, I noticed the store had beautiful bunches of dandelion greens. Bought a huge bunch (thinking the fids will eat it) and I would like to cook them. How do you guys cook them, and how bitter are they?
Candy seems to like them :D

Thank you :) Do they taste bitter though?
It is bitter but the sauce enhances the taste much more!

Its too bad you guys are too far away to taste my gourmet Chinese stir-fry cooking. My Kung Pao chicken with any veggie rock the house!:p

A little soy or oyster sauce will make a big difference:)

Yes they are. I won't be buying them again. Though they are nutritious and packed with good things. I just didn't care for the taste.
Oh well, trial and error, I guess.

I know Ive eaten dandelion greens in salad before, but never by itself...
Lol, I can't imagine they would be all that tasty or they would be more popular in stores, as it is they are sometimes hard to find.

I know that every bird I have loves dandelion greens.

Good food for any herbivorous reptiles too!

I've also seen people juice them and add it like shots of wheatgrass to smoothies and such.

I've had them in a salad.. mixed in very small amounts LOL they are bitter, I couldn't imagine cooking them and eating them alone.

I've never seen them sold in stores, that's pretty cool. I let it run wild in my yard. They grow really large and lush and the birds are always happy when I pick some. It's funny that something that used to be the first to go when I would keep my garden weed-free is now very welcome :D

here in Greece we boil them first and then we eat them as a salad with olive oil, lemon and salt. The bitterness is reduced by boiling! hope that helps!
I never give my budgies dandelion! they don't like it!
