one of the budgies got his teos stuck in this perch in the crack, it forms a sort of wedge
untill the crack formed i had no promblems with it

i have contacted super bird creations about it and they have stopped production

Although they have been great sellers for us we have stopped production and will be discontinuing this item. Your budgie's accident only reinforces this decision.

This is a great thread. I hope it will be made a sticky.

As a TB member recently just got this toy I wanted to pull up the warning thread on it.

It is about this toy called the "tear-riffic pouch"

A member had their bird got tangled in it, luckily she was around to free her bird. Here is the original thread from that member: http://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=60395&

thanks for joining in Z & Debbie, keep them coming :D

boings are being sold with cotton dangling - don't forget to trim them

it's easy, quick and free to do. all it takes is a pair of scissors

this is a photo of sweatpea after she got some wrapped round her neck

luckily she lives to tell the story and warm other people
to read more of her story, click here

Be careful with husks in toys, they can grown mold
husks are used commonly in foraging toys to pad them out
i remove it all before hand

thesse are quoted from another forum, i have tried to pick ones ive seen in photos around the forum, there is so many more
many thanks to the people that took the time to share and spread awareness
I bought a bunch of vineballs and let the Lovies play with them until one day I saw Zeus with part of the vine chewed off and wrapped around his neck like a noose! I hate to imagine what would have happened if I had not been home. I let the birds play with the vine balls, but only under close supervision and I saw one of the lovies get a piece wrapped around his neck again so I decided no more unless I hold the darn things in my hands and let them nibble on them!

Stainless steel buckets can be dangerous when hanging in a cage. Nani was perched on the side of one as she foraged for toys. The bucket got off balance and tipped, trapped her neck in between the handle and rim. If I had not been there when it happened, I hate to even imagine...
Happy Hut labels entangling toes:

Years ago I had a little male parrotlet that lost his toes. He had chewed the label on his Happy Hut and little threads were hanging. I did not notice as the label was to the back of the cage. When I cam home He was hanging there for God knows how long. His two front toes had to be amputated. It is best to cut this label off before giving to you bird.

I was going to buy some vine balls, after reading that I won't be bothering...and you'd think they would be safe for budgies to chew on.

Thanks to Spicky for mentioning a while back about the strands of rope on either end of the spiral rope perches....My Sky sits on the top right close to the bits and if I wasn't warned, I wouldn't of thought any different and left it. It's all cut short now and she is fine there....thanks for that.

We bought this for Sheldon thinking it would give him somewhere warm to be as our house is old and drafty and we have a window a/c unit.
We finally got him to go inside but were shocked to see his toes get stuck in the yellow material. He also got his toes caught in the butterfly on the outside because it's made of the same stuff. It is in the trash.

Great thread, Spicky
I almost bought one of these for my SS . On advise from Spicky I stayed away from all hideouts! Great thread!!

Excellent thread Spicky.

This ferris wheel toy is unsafe. The bird can get their heads caught in it. They are easily knocked over too.

I don't have a picture but those toys which are a ring and then they either have keys or rings attached, look a bit like baby teething toys, be careful with young birds especially chicks if you breed as I have had a couple try to go through it and in a panic get stuck, luckily I was there and removed it. I know only offer this toy to adults.

Remember... even a toy that may not be safe to leave unsupervised in the cage may be great fun playing with an owner right there to supervise.
I agree. :)
