Yesterday morning, my baby birdy Merlin passed away, Iv'e had her and Charlie for 4 years. Yesterday I made sure charlie wasnt alone, I had to leave for class for a couple hours, so I had my neighbors come over to be with her. When people were over and talking, she was chirping. Last night I picked up a young budgie, because I dont want her to be alone. The new bird(likely male) is on the other side of the room ( I live in an apartment and I bring the birds, now just charlie, into the bedroom at night so I cant quarantine the new bird there) I live alone and I cant stand the though of my Char being alone. She isnt tame so I cant hold her, she likes me being by the cage though, and its right by my desk. The new bird isnt really moving so im just letting him adjust, i bought the toy he loved in the pet store and hes got millet, since he hasnt eaten or drank yet. I'm not to worried about him yet. But today, Charlie hasnt eaten or drank, shes just sitting in the top corner perch of her cage. Is she depressed or just grieving? I'm not trying to force the new bird on her, they can hear each other, but the new one wont vocalise unless char does, they are too far too see each other though.
