I have a coworker who, contrary to my urging to wait has decided to get a bird. She was going to get a budgie, then decided on a tiel. Because I have a bird, she will be turning to me for support and advice. My question is: Are there differences in care between these two types of parrots? Is there anything particular to cockatiels that I should share with her? The bird that she's already paid for wasn't released to her since it's still a baby and not fully weaned. Any advice regarding the differences, a d similarities would be greatly appreciated!

One thing she should know is that cockatiels are very "dusty" birds. Anyone with respiratory allergies should avoid keeping birds of this type.
There is a huge amount of information regarding the care of cockatiels available through Google Search.
Good luck!
I read that among parrots, they are the top dust producer. I told her she'd need to get a very high quality air purifier. She has a Boston terrier, which with its flat face, tends to have narrow nasal passages, that might be adversely effected by the dust.
