Hello everyone, I hope some of you can help. Is my female budgie not well? she is currently in her breeding condition because her cere has turned brown. Her dropping however has changed compare to my other two budgies.

Here is the picture of her dropping today circled in yellow. Hope someone can help. Many thanks.

You should not use colored paper as a cage liner. Use plain white paper towels, craft paper or packing paper instead.

You should have your budgie checked by an Avian Vet if the droppings do not return to normal in a day or two.

When you rely on anyone who has not had training in Avian diagnosis and care, you may be delaying effective treatment.
This can prolong suffering that may be avoidable.
The bird will often require a more intense, prolonged treatment with a poorer chance of full recovery than it would have if you seek prompt professional diagnosis and treatment at the first sign of illness.
If there are no Avian Vets near you, please find an Exotic Pet Veterinarian with experience in dealing with small birds.

Hello FaeryBee, thank for your reply. I sure will take her to vet if is not recover in a day or two. May I know is there a danger of using coloured paper IE old news paper as a cage liner? Many thanks.

it is best not to use colored newspaper as the ink dyes may be toxic to your budgies.

Hello FaeryBee, thank you for your concern. She is back to her normal self yesterday. She is now eat and drink with no problem.
