FOOD FIGHT!!!

495 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  StarlingWings
Hello my feathered owner companions! This is actually my first time on a Budgie blog. The first thing that came to mind was a question that I've been wanting to receive an answer from. I have two budgies (currently) and there is this one thing that keeps bothering me because I have no idea as to why they do it?

I've always added fresh fruits to my budgies diet. (Not the whole actual fruit. I just chop them into smaller pieces.) But here's the thing. THEY ALWAYS THROW IT OUT OF THE BOWL. They eat a bit of the fruit... and seconds later, they pick it, drag it, and drop it on the ground! Is this normal? Or is this just a "playing with food" sort of thing?

Hi, Welcome to Talk Budgies!

The purpose of this forum is to promote the BEST PRACTICES in the care of budgies for their optimal Health and Well-Being

Locating an Avian Veterinarian

In actuality, its good that your budgies are only eating a tiny bit of fruit and then throwing it out.
Fruit is very high in sugar content and should be given only sparingly. Once or twice a week.
Vegetables are much better for your birds than fruit.
