Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone else buys this brand and/or knows if it is good quality. I really like it because it had a wide variety of seeds, pellets, and other stuff, and has all the nutritional benefits listed.

I used to buy it often for my birds but noticed that they were hungry often because there were refusing to eat everything from this seed mix.
I switched to Higgins brand and I'm happy with this brand except for the pellets they add (but that's because I don't believe in pellets)

I buy my seed loose from a produce Seed place I mix good quality seed for my bird. I don't believe in pellets either natural is best. I only have a small amount of budgie crumbles.. I also give my budgie lots of veggies plus fruit.

Here is what I mix together and use..I only fill enough to put in his seed dish.

1 Cup of plain Canary Seed
1/2 of a cup of Jat Millet
1/2 of a cup of White Millet
Small amount of hulled Oats.

Mix that together store in a sealed plastic bag. I buy half of a kilo of each packet seed separate and each are sealed put away in a container or fridge when on a hot day... I give my bird the best seed and he is happy. I haven't heard of those brands of seed packets...

Budgies are notorious for not eating a new or unknown food, seed mix.
If this is what your budgies have bee used to eating and eating all or most of the components that make it then keep using it.
A budgie needs a varied diet, I use a mixture of seed, egg food, green vegetables and fresh herbs, grasses and crumbles, pellets.
I have not heard of this brand myself. Also it is imperative the seed be fresh and not mouldy.

I used that mix for a time but I stopped using it because the birds and I did not like the size of the pellets in the mix. I now mix my own like Lyn does and also feed a small pellet.

They seem to like it... they eat mostly everything except the big stuff. There are smaller pellets in there that they eat too. I've been using it for a while now, so they are used to it. The reason I buy this is because my local pet store stopped carrying the pellet brand I liked, and I found out the seed mix I was buying was not that great.

I like to see more canary seed than you find in most commercial blends and my guys don't eat those larger pellets either. I have been feeding Goldenfeast Basics Parakeet Conditionong food. Here is a picture of the mix:

I use that type of seed mix as well minigrace.my budgie Gracie just loves it all plus millet sprays and some mixed veggies in as well.poor budgie going through a difficult molt right now.

Hi, Shane! My guys eat some Zupreem Fruity pellets and some veggies too. I hope your budgie finishes molting soon. Poor baby, it can make them grumpy!

Minigrace, I see quite a bit of canary grass seeds in your mix.
When I had a canary, I added a little canary grass seeds to my budgies' mix but they didn't care for it.

Back to the original post now: When you look at different seed mixes for budgies, see which one has more or a lot red millet and DON'T buy it. Most birds prefer yellow millet, often leaving the red millet uneaten.

I too make a seed mix for my guys.
Base is almost always Higgins Vita Seed Parakeet
Add-ons: more oat groats, hemp seeds (which all birds love), Sunburst Fruits and Veggies, bee pollen granules, powdered veggies by Avitech, Hatched eggshell, and I'm probably forgetting something now.
That's the mix, but they also eat fresh food every day.

Hey Nika - my guys like the canary seed and eat it first. I did not know about the hemp seed - thanks for the info. I will get some for them.

Thanks for this thread.. it's always both interesting and informational to see what others are doing to help our little guys be healthy! I'm a sucker for new stuff, but the birds? not so much.. so like Cathy notes, it's always good to mix the old with the new and not rush right in.. (good to do with any animal, anyway, right? :wink1. I can be a little bit impatient and have to remind myself to slow down.
