Greetings everyone.I was deciding on naming my new budgie when I finally get 1 in early March.I'm thinking maybe Dr.who or doctor whokeet lol.he would be the first incarnation from the tv show .I guess you can say I'm a huge fan.the hard part is coming up with a little tardis and a hat ,scarf on a fantasy picture.do you think that's a pretty good idea or any suggestions that might be more helpful.after I do the quarantine period and 1 week of settling in.I slowly do the bonding routine.but I wanted to do something special and share his adventures for you all.I know a store that sells miniature dalek and Dr who toys .but to cut it short here .I always give loving care and safety precautions when I let him out eventually. I hope this is not wrong in doing this.I noticed in some pictures they are some really cool Jedi pictures of birds and little hats .etc.but thank you all so much for sharing those wonderful little feathered friends on the forum.God bless and take care.:budgie:

Hello Shane, the amazing budgies you are talking about are all creations made with a computer programme if you would like a signature done for your budgie once you have him home you can request one. You need to have some pictures available and give details of what you would like. Although I must stress PLEASE let your budgie settle into his new home before you start to get up close and take pictures.

Sky is the limit when it comes to awesome names, and with photoshop themes and pic's too.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with...:)

Oh thank you so much and yes he will get all the time he needs to settle in as I'm always careful when getting a new budgie or Bird .I make sure that they are safe ,and cared for .I want his stay to be as cozy, comfortable as possible.I was thinking if more like 2 weeks of getting used to me.I observe his behavior while gently talking to him and cleaning, feeding and some relaxing music while the times I'm from home.I can't wait till day he starts to bond ,perhaps learn a few words.I've read on some of the delicious recipes on here.from what I saw they're good enough for person to like some of the breads or brownies, but they are for him.lol I'm going to be like a new father again learning the ropes .I also need to check on the plants that are safe for him as well.I have 1 tall dracena something tree .not sure the proper name.but it has long thin leaves with two branches on it .thanks again and I,'ll post later on after I,'ve gotten him and he's settled in well.blessings.:budgie:

Hi no this would be probably my 15th or 16th in all.through out the years, but it has been 2 years since I had Bird .and I really miss having one around.I live alone so having a new feathered friend would be great again.I am so excited and reading up on all the information I can on this forum,so much to relearn again lol.picking his or her cage is important as well.I want it feel safe but able to fly around and be able to play with its toys.I hoping it will live for many years with me.unfortunately I can't have more than 1 at a time in this apartment complex.so it's just me and my companion.I think I will do well taking care of it.crossing my fingers it will learn to talk.blessings and thanks for your interest.:)

I have a question to ask, on concerning the height of the cage should I place from the carpet floor.should I place it just barely above eye level or a little higher.I want him to feel safe and me not looking like I'm a threat when approaching near him. I know wild birds are always watching for things on the ground or up above them.so hopefully I thought just right around eye level or close perhaps?.I'm studying hard here like a college student hitting the books lol.thanks everyone so much for giving me so advice and just love all the likes I get.take care and blessings :budgie:

How exciting! I'm a huge doctor who fan myself. You can see my little tardis and 10th doctor figure that I keep on my desk in this picture of my budgie baby Albie (short for Albus).

There is no shortage of great Who-inspired names. :) I can't wait to hear what you choose and see your fun signature too.

As for cage height, it really depends on the cage. A lot of members here have large flight cages that come with their own stand. If you're using a cage that doesn't come with a stand, I believe most people will put it up on a table instead of leaving it on the floor.

 thanks for the Dr who tardis picture.that's the USB tardis port if I'm not mistaken?I started to buy 1 last year, but at the time was a little to high on price to buy.but I'm going to a store soon that sells Dr who toys and items.not much longer left now in about 6 to 7 days until I get my new little friend.I've picked out a big cage for him to fly in some and have lots of room.lol I wrote down a big list on things to get.toys, food, cage, stand ,etc.also I'm getting a portable radio CD player,so I can let him have some soothing music and CD for words to learn.I'm so excited and happy.plus I'm checking into Bird insurance for him as well.I'll keep everyone posted as it gets closer and when the day comes for him to come home.blessings everyone and thanks so much.:)

Yep, it's a USB hub. It lights up and plays the tardis sound of you plug something in or push the button. My husband got it for me as a birthday gift a while back. I love it!

I can't wait to see pics of your new birdie friend as soon as he comes home. :)

just got my new budgie.

Greetings everyone well I finally got my new Bird and boy was this adventure today whew.I got to the store, there was only 1 Bird left.so I decided and waited for awhile, carefully checking her out.she looked so lonely ,so after we checked her out well for any signs of illness or injury, but she is very healthy.active.lol we get into the suv closed the doors and I put the cage together.went to get here out.lol she gets lose flying around the suv.finally got her in the suv all secured .she loved the ride home.looking out the window calmly.lol hehe.get her inside.as I was putting in her toys she gets out again flying every where.let her rest on the curtain and slowly brought the cage to her,she gets in now resting well.over all she did very well a little scared but not that bad.I named her Gracie.she looked at me when I said that name to her.she seems to like it.the cage is huge plenty of space to fly and play in.I bought her the best Bird seed and vegetables stuff I could afford.she's so cute.light green with some yellow on her cheeks.I will try to get a picture soon.letting her rest and calm down.sad at first I wasn't go I g to buy her.but something said to.so I did took long enough lol.30m to think and make sure.anyways I'm tired and got to relax some.blessings and I'll keep you all updated soon.:budgie:

:) hi yes she looked so lonely and sad.they said she and another was the last 2 left and she had been alone for a day or so.you know how you get that feeling when seeing a lonely Bird or animal and you feel a connection to it.that's the way I felt.I knew this was going to be my only chance probably for a month or longer.but making sure ofcourse on its health before buying.and it doesn't matter to me if she ever talks or not,I'm going to cherish and love her as my own.my only concern is making sure she never comes into the breeding stage hopefully not.I lost 1 long ago to egg binding and there was nothing at that time I could do being young at that time and no way to get help back then.I'm sure she'll pickup on the doorbell or phone ringing though lol.a lot of female birds pickup sounds so well and whistles.but yes I'm so happy now.I'm gonna spoil her like a child lol.toys and all .blessings :D

Hmm Gracie is having some going to bed issues.I have the lights on low,and she can still enough.however seems like something is spooking her.so I uncovered her again and talked with her.but she still abit scared at something.I,'ve checked all around her cage and all .I think she's just not quite used to being covered or the dark worries her.however today she did so well singing and even eating like a rabbit lol.she loves the tv and radio a lot.I think I,'ve spoiled her lol.:budgie:
