Even though some people claim that you can it is not possible to tell visually if a green bird is split for blue. Sometimes a very experienced breeder can tell if a green bird is carrying violet but this does not mean the bird is split for blue

Green split---

Hi,

Violet dark green birds usually have violet/blue feathers in the vent areas,under the tail, but the only real proof is to breed unless you get from a breeder, usually English Budgies, that will give you a pedigree, which may go back at least a couple of generations.
