Hii, i’ve been feeding my budgie Jax parsley and cucumber in moderation , about once or twice a week . i want to give him more veggies but it just seems like every vegetable that i look up, one website will say it’s not good to feed it to them often , whereas another website will say that it’s perfectly fine . i looked at the sticky on vegetables and fruits in diet & nutrition and took note of some. for the vegetables , is it fine if i give him kale , broccoli , cucumber , and spinach every two to three days ?? i’ll choose two or three and chop it up so it’s small enough for him to eat . i gave him a piece of carrot before but he never touched it . please let me know the healthiest and safest fruits and vegetables that you guys feed your budgies !!

The key to a healthy diet for budgies is much the same as it is for humans and other animals. You are best to serve foods in moderation.
It's best to offer a variety of vegetables so one week you might specific things from the safe foods list and the next week you can offer something different.

I would recommend you include spinach only once or twice a week.

Spinach and Parsley contain oxalic acid which binds to calcium, blocks the absorption of calcium and puts stress on the kidneys.
Too much oxalic acid can also cause poor blood clotting and convulsions in birds.

Other green leafy vegetables you can offer include:

kale
chard
collard greens
fresh beet greens
fresh mustard greens
fresh turnip greens
endive
romaine
watercress
fresh sprouts

chickweed and dandelion leaves (ensure they have not been chemically treated)

I like to feed my little flock fresh chop at breakfast time in trays at the bottom of their cages(helps keep them busy till they get let out for flight time in afternoon!)-but doing it this way dose require dedication to cleaning cages daily. An alternative would be to have a bowl of it out during flight time in a place simple to clean......i only offer fruits during flight time roughly every 3 day due to sugar content and stickyness

i have found it easier to make up a tub of about 3 days worth and store in the fridge( you dont want to be storing it for longer than that really due to increased risk if bacteria growth).

hope this is of help
