Hi guys, Let me just start off by saying i'm new here, and pretty new to Budgies, but not to birds :p!

Im a member of talkcockatiels (i own 3) and now own 3 amazing and highly energetic personally raised juvenile budgies (we bred them ourselves)!
I have never personally owned budgies before now, and wow are they full of beans, so much fun in a tiny body!

Anyway, while i know alot about cockatiel mutations, i know next to nothing about budgie ones, and i have a question regarding Hedwig's mutation!

What is he!?
I have never seen another budgie like him anywere, and while i can guess his siblings mutations, his is a mystery to me.

The first two are of him, the third is of mummy and daddy bird.

I think you have a clearbody violet. The mum looks like an opaline clearbody green and the dad is probably violet and split for clearbody

Fabulous bird!! WOW! i don't think I've ever seen a bird like this. Can anyone gives us more info on clearbodies? Is this the same as Texas Clearbody? You also have to post pics of the other babies, please.

Here are some pictures of Hedwig's siblings.

Stevie (yellow) is, i believe, lutino (he has red eyes)
and Binkie (green) who seems to just be a wild colourd budgie.

Do we also have Hedwig= boy
Stevie= girl
Binkie= girl ??

Edit: sorry about the picture sizes, im still working photobucket out >_<

I'm pretty sure Stevie is a yellow-based lacewing, which is a composite of lutino and cinnamon. See http://www.***************/colorsguide.html#lacewing.

I think Binkie is normal mauve, but perhaps s/he is cinnamon mauve (http://www.***************/colorsguide.html#cinnamon).

I looked at the picture of parents in your first post, and neither one is visual cinnamon or visual ino (albino/lutino). This means the **** bird is split to cinnamon and ino. According to cinnamon genetics (http://www.***************/gen_cinnamon.html) and ino genetics (http://www.***************/gen_ino.html), the lacewing chick, Stevie, can only be female (see the punnet squares for normal **** bird split to cinnamon/ino x normal hen).

If Binkie is normal, then I'm not good enough to tell gender because the blue cere is too pale. However, if Binkie is cinnamon, she must be a hen.

I'm not an expert, though, so I hope Nev returns to comment.

Susan, why do you say Binkie is a mauve? Isn't mauve the darkest blue that one can get? This bird doesn't look blue to me.

Stevie does look lacewing but Will be a female Because lacewing is sex linked- the mom doesn't have cinnamon (females can't be split cinnamon)

but Stevie can also be a Fallow (and could be a boy)They too have red eyes but are not sex linked But like an Ino (Albino or lutino) Recessive pied, or Lacewing the males cere does not go blue
http://www.***************/c_fallow.html

the other is an Olive - meaning it had 2 dark factors
