Hi!
Say hello to Svrčko! For purposes of this forum, let's just call him Cricket :) We tossed around a lot of names, this one seems to have stuck :)

After two weeks advertisements in Pawboost ($125 🤑), next door, here, called several pet stores, and both shelters in my county, we're losing hope that we'll find this little guy's home. Will keep the posts going a bit longer.
Meantime, the bird has a beautiful, vibrant (almost radiant/glowing) aquamarine blue coloring, and appears healthy. His cere is a bit lighter in life, it's not coming through quite right on my screen and is not this dark, it's a nice purple color with some lightness around the nares. It is not pink or brown. Male? If not, I'll change pronouns after correction by those who know more, and name change might come into play (tbd).
He's of course at least a year old, having irises and lost the forehead bands. His claws are very well manicured and the little cheek spots are small.. maybe he's between 1 and 2? Or not.
He seems in good spirits, despite the small cage. He'll be in quarantine from Chiribiri two more weeks to complete 30 days. Vet visit scheduled this week. He stopped eating harrison's, but is eating nutriberries, seeds, and some veges. The bird is a total acrobat, and definitely hates the small cage, trying to escape every possible moment, looking for a way out. Family will keep him busy, playing music and interacting with him. In the vening, he has no issues stepping up and doesn't seem to mind gentle scritches. Daytime it's tough to get hands in as he just wants out.

We'll introduce the two in a couple weeks, and follow-up here.. I'm very curious how Chiribiri will respond. Today, when I picked him up from my family's house, the two happened to hear each other and had a short calling going out to each other. Hopefully that is a good start!

Chiribiri and Svrčko.. what a tongue teaser for those who don't know how to trill their r's haha :D

Forgot to state.. we had two possible owners, but details did not match up :(
Who knows how far he had flown before he was found, you might try contacting some vets that see birds in the area to see if they know of someone that lost a bird, my vet has a bulletin board in the hospital where people post lost and found.

I recall back from my college days there was a drink that became temporarily popular called the "cricket" or maybe the "grasshopper"? I recall they were artifiically vibrant blue, but a quick internet search shows it is bright green. Mustardgrouse might be able to help with the names of popular slushee-blue drinks, internet search results in a lot of ad-generating formula websites that aren't helpful. :p

Just got back from the first avian vet visit. Here's what's going on:
1. Vet agrees with me, probably 1-2 years old
2. Bird is 28g, possibly a little underweight; his breathing, heart rate, muscular development, etc are within normal limits otherwise
3. Given the weight, we are going to monitor and run the tests for psittacosis and a couple other issues for crop and bacterial stuff. Results will be available in <2 weeks, which is the time remaining for the quarantine, and I'll watch his weight every few days.

Prior to the above results, I had planned on breaking quarantine and introducing the birds next week since the new guy appears super healthy. Now, I'm more than glad to wait.

Importance of quarantine recommended by the moderators on this website cannot be stressed enough!

Hope things turn out ok on the tests, I am surprised by his weight, in the picture he does not look that thin, did the vet say if his keel bone was too pronounced or is he just small?

Two of my American budgies (from a pet store and not a breeder) never managed to get their weight up over 28 grams in the entire time I had them.
It’s excellent that his breathing, heart rate, muscular development, etc are within normal limits.
Will be awaiting future updates!
Best wishes. 💜💜

@Cody: no, he made no comments about it, though he did check just before listening to his heart. Everything else in the exam came through normal. I'm really expecting the tests to all come back negative, just being cautious at this point.

The bird is pretty tame, it was easy to catch him, and when we brought him back he gladly took a little millet treat from me and let me even give him a little head scritch.

@FaeryBee, Yah, Chiribiri maintains 27-28g, and is very smol. I may just end up with two lightweights hahah :)
