I figured that this needed it’s own thread.

Meet Hemingway :)
Gender tbd, but the name is locked regardless :)
S/he should be coming home in mid-December.

How exciting, great name!
I’m glad that it worked out, s/he will be coming home just as I have some time off of work!

I should know the gender in a week or so.

So, in other words, you're saying the name is Hemingway in e(a)rnest.....:)

Congratulations!

Hemingway is PRECIOUS!!

Those new feathers look really ouchy! I'm sure s/he will be glad when the sheaths come off and s/he is all feathered up.

How cool that you'll be getting her/him when you have some time off work! 💚💚💚

I’m super stoked that it panned out the way that it did.
I can’t imagine how annoying it would be to have that growing out of my skin :(

I just got access to the breeders live brooder cam too, so I can check in on him/her whenever. Right now there’s a baby splendid in there that will keep the South American weebits company for a while.

So if Dad is a Dark Green Split Ino, Turquoise; and mom is a Greywing Turquoise…

Does my wee one have different splits or factors depending on gender? Or is s/he just “Dark Green”?

Alright, so we’ll know more soon but s/he is definitely a Dark Green. There is the possibility that s/he is a greywing as well, which would automatically make it a boy (but a non-greywing could be either gender).
Olive isn’t an option since only one parent has a dark factor.

It’s a boy :)

the breeder re-ran some math and it seems that boys from this pairing will all be greywings, and girls will always look normal.
Mine appears to be a greywing, so…ipso facto…. Male.

This makes the other two hens by default, so I’m defiantly not getting any of them to go along with Hemingway ;)
