They seem to be doing quite well so far.
they “argue” over my shoulder a little, but that’s ok.

I went to give them individual out-of-cage time and the contact calling started :ROFLMAO:

It died down after a few minutes though. They seem to both enjoy my company individually, but Hemi is still my snuggle bug.

We’re still negotiating boundaries ;)
They are still working out who the boss is, but Hemi straight up Laughs at the end…
They look so cute together!

If they’re not flighted, how do they get on your shoulder? You put them up there?
yep, just step ups to my finger and they rush my shoulder ;)
Awesome! Just wait till they’re flighted. Your shoulder and the top of your head will be prime real estate—and a landing target
this implies that I have hair to grip ;)

Also. I wonder how having a new bird will affect Hemi’s talking.
They are both good talkers already, so if anything I expect that to improve.

There was some disagreement over who can perch where for bed time.
Hemi has “a spot” that he absolutely always goes to, and Kingston decided that it should be his.
There was some bickering, but five minutes later it’s dead silent.

I am assuming that they figured it out and are not dead :)

I understand, when I have had really sick birds, I have done that, and on the floor with sick cats.
Kingston is kinda bossy ;)
Hemi just wants to perch on me and his brother is all “chase chase chortle chortle”

I wanna be friends with you, but purely as a way in to meeting these two.
I can put you in touch with several people who feel exactly the same..

So, yes and no.

They don’t “nip” in a normal sense.
However, they often like to go for necklaces and earrings, so they end up getting your skin too. Hemi especially has a habit of nibbling on the flesh just below my eyebrows when he is perched on my glasses. It can hurt :)

When they do this, I just remove them from the area. They aren’t trying to hurt anyone, but even exploratory nibbles can hurt if they get you somewhere tender.
My boys will “bite” if you try to extract them from somewhere they’d rather not leave. It can be painful, but they throw plenty of warning signs first, so I know it’s coming.

But sometimes, they gotta get moved…

So proud of the little nugget.
we are now target trained :)

Kingston takes down millet at budgie-like speed. Quick succession.
Hemingway needs a full 45 seconds between tricks because he chews at an ekkie level of slowness….🤣
