Hot but healthy Pinko-chan

He's still taking medicine but he is acting fine (talking up a storm, playing ... even eating his pellets!)

It's getting hot here in Kobe, Japan. Today is 35. c (95F?) and humid. Pinko loves to fly n swoop around the room. He was hot after! I caught him bobbing his head and opening up his wings on camera. He had a shower / bath afterward :) So nice to see him looking so well :)

P.S for any Japanese students, technically 'abiru' is correct for showers but really we get lazy I guess and can also say 'hairu' in daily life ;)

Thank you! Yes he enjoyed a light shower after the video :rain:
It's not even mid summer yet - hope he will adjust ok..

Ahhh the magical central heating / cooling ? ? :D Sadly we don't have that here. Only newly made expensive western houses have that. :(
We have air conditioners but its soo hard to set it to a comfortable temperature and it will only cool one room. I really don't like air conditioning :( It gets so dry. Which is an extreme difference to the outside which is terribly humid...

We're always told to be so careful of drafts. I guess fans are not too bad if not directly in front of the cage but the air from the air-con can't be good for them....

I just had a friend over. He was so happy playing with her. But he threw up  Over excited? Back to worrying again....

Dont have to worry about humidity here. On avg in the summer the humidity is 5-10%. 30% is really high. We had 2 days last year where they said we had 0%. I didnt even think that was possible :).

Oh that sounds nice. Does it cool down in the evenings too? I would love to live somewhere like that! Humidity is a killer.
It's still the rainy season here so it's often between 80 - 90+ %!!!

Yeah it cools down at night. When I go to work at 4 am its only 90° :D.
Hi Pinko! You're so cute.

Your poor baby. I just read that he threw up again and is now causing you worry. I'm sorry he seems to be having a bit of a setback. Hopefully that was a one-time thing and it won't happen again. How is he doing now? Active? Alert?

What a roller coaster of emotions for you. Here's hoping Pinko fully recovers very soon!

Hi Kim
Pinko only threw up that one morning when he played with my friend. Perhaps he hasn't got regurgitation down right??
He is very active! Swoops and dives with such joy when he is let out and is forever playing and trying to get into mischief ;) He is also talking a lot, it's very sweet :)

I'm keeping him off veggies mostly , just for a while. I do cave and give him a little Italian parsley or basil at times as we have a lot in the kitchen at the moment and he practically begs for it.
The only thing is his face doesn't look so good. Hard to explain but he doesn't look well around his eyes, if that makes any sense. I'm hoping that its just his molt ....

My last student of today loves to play a little with Pinko after her lesson. Pinko loves her too! He has regurgitated to her before (but it wasn't like it should be). I'm almost scared to let him out to play with her... Even if it's just over excitement , it can't be good for him :(

Roller coaster indeed..... :(

And how is our darling Pinko today?

I can totally understand why your students would love your little guy. He sounds very interactive! :)

How much longer is he on meds Corrina?

Aww thanks for asking! He is talking a lot but a bit less active (but still makes a few crazy swooping loops of joy around the room when let out :D ) . He seems to be in a bit of pain with his pinnies :( He had a major bath today and then let me massage around his head. The skin seemed inflamed on one side :( If I could , he'd let me massage his head all day :D

His meds should finish tonight :) He hasn't thrown up since I posted last. I hope to be able to reintroduce veggies as he needs lots of energy for his molt. The pinnies are bad but he is losing feathers slowly.... I think the rainy season is not good for him either...

Today he has been saying my husband's nickname over and over so clearly! It's nice hearing him saying new words more clearly :) It's a good sign that he is fine or will be once this molt is over..

Tomorrow he will meet my youngest student (3) for the first time .... But only if he is fine! And he will be out of reach :D

Poor Pinko. Moulting can be so awful for our budgies can't it...

Hopefully in no time he will be back to his spunky little self. And it would be so great if your student could meet him. :)

Thanks for the update. I've been thinking about your little sweety.
