I just wondered how to see if a RP is also Opaline. One of my pairs must give me a very high percentage OpRp's. The RP's from this pairing have very little markings and I don't know how to look for opaline in these RP's. I know Nev said that the dawn of opalines are white. Is that a way of telling?

Sometimes it is obvious visually if a recessive pied is also opaline but other times it can be hard to see

The down on recessive pied chicks is also very lightly colored so it would be very hard to tell is a recessive pied chick was opaline or not by the down color

The only sure way is breeding records. If the father is opaline all the female chicks will be opaline. If both parents are opaline all the chicks will be opaline

Thanks, Nev. Like I said the **** is split Opaline and the hen is an Opaline - so there must be a high number of opaline babies.
