Hey guys, so my budgie has had bloody poo the last 24 hours, I'm pretty sure it's because he has like an anal tear? (Vent tear?)

Anyway he has been itching like crazy, is there anything that might smooth his digestive system?

(Should note he's on antibiotics and is at the vet tomorrow - my vet isn't budgie savvie so I'm hoping you guys would be able to help more with advise on soothing him)

Would a warm water bath help? Any like food I can give him? Something I can find around the house that I could coat his bum in?

Yasmin , did the vet consult with an avian vet at all? Blood in the droppings of a bird is very serious and needs to be correctly diagnosed. What makes you think it is a tear? Is the vent area red, or enlarged , wet, ?
I would be sending those pictures to an avian vet and asking for a second opinion as soon as possible if it were me.
Was the budgie passing dry poops that were causing him discomfort before this happened and had pasting of the vent?
It really sounds like an internal problem that needs to be investigated more.

Aloe Vera gel will help if she will let you dab some on the area with a cotton ball. Chamomille tea, cooled down of course, could also be dabbed on the same way and is supposed to help fight infection and inflammation. Other's may be along with more or better advice. I do hope the vet can get your little friend straightened out...:)

You can rinse the area with sterile saline solution and then apply the Chamomille tea compresses suggested by Jonah.

You can give your budgie millet soaked in electrolyte solution (pedialyte).

Please give us an update on his condition after he's been seen by the Avian Vet.

I hope the vet will advise treatment to help your budgie get welll soon!

Best wishes
