Intuitive bird

So, my beautiful Ted has just floored me. I hasten to add I have kept parrots all my life and am well aware of their emotional capabilities and intellect. Yet this tiny blue awesome bird has just knocked me for six. I was crying earlier, pretty distraught I have to say, the reason not relevant here, and this tiny bird that is my little buddy flew to my shoulder, gently beaking my face, tasting my tears, all the while cooing and burrring - noise's I had not heard before - his gentle affection and concern stopping me in my tracks. His attentiveness and desire to comfort me left me astonished and I have to say, deeply moved. He talks non stop and his voice is the cheery backdrop to the day, yet he was so silent and diligent in his affection for me. I'm kind of reeling from how such a creature can be so intelligent.
Does anyone have any experiences or insight to share with me, I'd appreciate any thoughts or stories on this remarkable behaviour.
Thanks in advance x

Budgies, like other animals, are keenly tuned into our emotions.
As you and Teddy are closely bonded, he sensed your distress and wanted to help comfort you.
Teddy obviously sees you as a very important "flock-mate".

My lovebird, Peachy, is very closely bonded to me and can sense anytime I am stressed or unhappy.
I try to ensure I am always calm and relaxed when interacting with him.
Peachy sounds amazing!
I've only had Ted about a year now, he was hand tame from a breeder but not hand reared. I'm astounded at him everyday, I never knew just how clever budgies are, having only ever had larger parrots. He's amazing and his vocab has shocked me, he takes his words and makes new ones, his use of intonation to maximum effect, and situation appropriate dialogue has my jaw on the floor! Never realised how brilliant budgies are💖

Isn't it amazing? My LoVey is the same way! If I'm upset or having a really bad pain day she is all over me. Interestingly enough, she gets up closer to my face. Even though our facial features are configured differently it's as if she knows the face is where the emotions can be seen. As FaeryBee mentioned about Peachy, I also have to keep my emotions in check around my girl. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could read their minds? I'd love to know how they are sensing these things in their humans. Bird to bird I can understand more easily. But it makes me wonder which of their senses are picking up our human emotions. They certainly are hearing and seeing our behavior, but I do wonder if they can smell or feel it somehow.

Ted seems like a lovely little fellow and like a true companion and friend~ Budgies are said to have have the intelligence of about a 3-year old child. This is especially obvious when they form close bonds with us and learn to express themselves with us. What a lovely story. 💓
