Is it possible to tell the colour/mutation before the chick has feathers?
in another forum some one said "that one will be a green dominant pied" (before it even had any feathers) and she was right:eek:

So is it possible?

You can tell sometimes from parentage, eye colour at birth and some mutations can be identified from down feathers (such as opaline). The next stage would be identifiying colour from pin feathers.

well the ends of chick 1's pins are white and at the base their grey/black. His eyes are plum and he had down feathers. And has8-12 black/grey spots down his back

Hen: green opalind, possible split for rec.pied
****: sly blue dom.pied

Any ieas Dean?

Need a picture, but I'll guess too?
A Rec. Pied or Cinnamon (with the plum eyes, is a Cinnamon female if the male parent isn't split rec. pied) Opaline blue Dominant Pied. Just a guess from your description.
