Disco is my favourite YT budgie talker to watch. He rocks! He's for real!

http://talkbudgies.com/showthread.php?t=104497 is one of the topics here that I have seen about him.

My opinion is .... SO WHAT if it is edited and condensed. I don't want to watch / listen to quiet "dead air time" when he is not saying something - what he DOES say is very clear and whilst impressive, I think you know my thoughts on budgies, Wendy. We massively UNDER-estimate them. I do not for one moment believe my budgie buddy Mista is an Einstein or any smarter than other budgies - he's just had the opportunity to learn English, since I don't speak budgie AND he is able to relay certain things to me, in English so I understand his wants ( eg. when he tells me NO, or says "Hello" or "what is that" "Get out" etc etc and everything is in context).

I've seen Lyn's budgie, Indi do it on video, and I've seen Wiki do so too. They are just displaying their natural intelligence and are given the opportunity to do so - as is Disco.

I bet your budgies will often surprise you with things they do and you'll think to yourself how clever that was - they are just showing you their natural, innate intelligence! :)

Ollie does and says clever things all the time, which
i mostly attribute to him being the only budgie for
eight months. I think the one-on-one time helps a lot
with that. The others don't really do any of that, and
are happy just being budgies. I find Ollie still prefers
my company to any of the other birds.

I absolutely agree with you, Wendy! The one on one time is how Mista learned to speak English - and of course he realised fairly quickly that apart from getting me to come to him if he flocked called, that I cant speak budgie, so he had to learn how to talk to me! :giggle:

He has learned from the many hours a day he's spent with me, sitting on my shoulder, yakking away in my ear, or quietly absorbing things he sees and hears - just like Ollie did with you.

My other 4 budgies do not respond like Mista does either and he prefers to hang out with me, than be near the other budgies too.

Ollie is just naturally born clever - and you've been able to give him the chances to SHOW YOU. :)
