Keeping them entertained?

So I'm not used to Bean's energy :giggle: he is all over the place. He doesn't mind sitting on our shoulder but he very quickly wants to chew things, like our ears! Otherwise he will jump on the back of the couch and run up and down it screaming for no apparent reason  I know he is still getting used to being here as it's only been a few days, but what are some things that you use to keep your lovie entertained when they are outside the cage? He's not really into toys yet but I'm hoping he will be soon, I have put a variety of them inside his cage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :) thank you!

Oh, wow I didn't know you had a lovie! Have you posted photos?

When I first got Paddington I found his crying out the hardest but he was just settling in and it improved over time. I'm sure Bean will settle down as well with the biting and people with lovies can give you ideas on other things to do.

Paddy is not really into toys much either. When he's out he likes to fly around and sit on top of cages and crawl on them. He also likes to wander up and down window sills. He likes to cuddle up when it's night-time if I'm in my room away from distractions (like the budgies).

I think you'll find what Bean likes to do in time but it will take him time to settle in and calm down I reckon.

Good luck and in time things will improve.

Thanks! yes I just posted some photos of him earlier today :)
My semi tamed ones love to chew and mainly fly across the room during their out of cage time. They have a play area where they all hangout and are allowed to chew/play with their wooden toys (they don't get to chew on furniture or other objects besides their things) or just relax.

My tamed boy Lotas loves to spend time on my shoulder or flying around, he is not that interested in toys while out of the cage, but he does play with them when he is on the cage.

My velcro lovie Khaleesi is the most toy-oriented bird in the flock, he absolutely loves to play and includes me in his playful games. He is mostly on me, but does have sudden bursts of energy where he flies a few laps across the room, he also loves to climb the curtains and to balance himself on the curtain baton (makes for a good swing). He has discovered a new sport as well, which is running and doing the cute bunny hopping on my bed. He also does this on my arm and to get to my shoulder.

You can try to use some of Bean's toys when you are spending time with him and try to engage him in a fun little game. A toy ball could be a good start, or even a bottle cap. Khaleesi was the one who showed me that bottle caps make great toys when he proceeded to steal one from my hand when I was drinking some water. Despite all the toys he has, somehow he never forgets his beloved bottle caps and loves to throw them back at me (like we're playing frisbee).

I was lucky and my girl Belle would spend time sleeping on me or just sitting, thankfully (she saved all of her curiosity and wanting to get into everything for when she grew up, however ;))
You could try an all plastic hamster wheel, it sounds silly, but my Belle loves it to keep herself busy and uses it almost every day.
Other than that I would agree with all other suggestions :)

For biting I would suggest starting to choose a word when he bites, such as "no", "ow", "gentle", etc. Belle responds to "gentle" and will let go. You have to be stern when you say it and consistent with using it.
