I thought this would be fun to do!
I'm a really impatient person, and I understand that training budgies takes lots and lots of time, so I'm hoping that maybe if I share how Kermit's doing then you guys can let me know if I'm going too fast.

I got Kermit!
He sat in a travel cage for the ride home, which was 4 hours long!!
He took it really well, and he was really nosy. I covered the cage so that he wouldn't be so scared, but he would chirp because he wanted me to lift the cover so that he could see!

Kermit met the dog and cat. **Edited to add that he did NOT see the dog and cat face-to-face!! He was in the cage as they looked at each other and we held the cat/dog!** He was alright with them, and isn't even bothered by the dog barking. He would try to avoid us if we got around the cage, like, if I was next to the perch he was on, he would try and get to a perch on the other side. He was still figuring out how to maneuver the cage, and would freak and fall if I put my hand in the cage to change his food and stuff.

He started to have some fun in the cage.
He finally got the hang of maneuvering around the cage. He's a little clumsy, and fell off of his perch while screeching to music, but he was able to get back up no problem. When I put my hand in the cage, he would kind of shift his feet and watch to see if I was getting too close.

Today, he was all about trying to figure out just WHAT the humans are up to. I was eating supper next to him, and realized that now he looks a LOT fatter. Like, before, he was tense and looked skinny, but now, he's letting his feathers puff out a bit. He almost fell asleep in the cage with me around.
While I changed his food and water, he watched my arm in the cage and wasn't as nervous, since he realized that I was giving him some millet and new food.
We got his cage at PetSmart, and I put him in before I realized that they had the pan backwards, so I have to flip his cage around to clean it. Tonight, I flipped him around and he hung on the cage bars right next to me as I cleaned, and he seemed happy.
