Like I mentioned before, I've had Leo and Calypso for about 10 months now, but never got around to developing a real bond with them. As a New Years resolution I am going to work on developing a real bond with them.

Leo and Calypso live together in the same cage, but their bond is not very strong. They rarely sit by each other and never groom each other. Leo is very hyper and likes to jump around and chirp, and Calypso is not a fan of Leo's behavior.

Leo still lets me pick him up, but Calypso does not. Starting a few days ago I've been making an effort to talk to them whenever I'm in the room, and I have read to them a couple times and Leo chirped along with me as I did so. I'll be working on making sure that they are comfortable with my hand and then spending some one on one time with them in the future when they have gotten comfortable with my hand and being with me.

Good job setting new goals Nate. With your patience, positive attitude, and some of the great info here, it will be exciting to follow your progress with them...:)

Well I wish you great luck with your budgies! Keep doing what ou are doing! Earning a budgies trust can take a lot of time. And the relationship between your budgies I find unusual. Usually, budgies can get along really well after a while. If you get them both to love you though, they might start to understand eachother! Again, wish you luck! :D

Is it rather unusual? Do you guys think that this behavior will make it easier or harder for me to bond with them?

Today I had a group of friends over and they wanted to take a look at Leo and Calypso. We went to look at them and no one was like crowded against the cage or anything, but I was worried that they would be scared, but Leo LOVED the attention! He was tweeting and jumping around and showing off :)

Calypso and Leo were just preening each other which is something that I haven't seen in a very long time. They were preening themselves, and then Calypso chirped at Leo because she had a spot on the back of her head that she need preened so he did it for her.

And here is tonights sleeping arrangement, I thought it was very cute :)

Today I spent a very good chunk of time just hanging out with them and helping them really get used to me, talking to them, watching a movie by them, etc.

They love sleeping on swinging perches!

Yesterday I was very busy, so I only had about 15 minutes to spare to sit and talk to them, and I did!

The last few days I've been working on reading to them and spending time with them, resting my hand in their cage, progress is slow but present
