If possible try to buy from a breeder not a pet shop, in saying this I don't mean breeders are always better but on average they are . Choose a bird that looks alert, not fluffed up has any discharge or looks sad. Good luck show us your baby when you have him settled in.:D
Thank you for responding ... I did not post a pic, but Ozzie is on my facebook page ..
I am truly not new at raising budgies, I just can't find a breeder that has half-English male babies to sell! help me if you can, I am in Springfield, IL Thanks!

Lol! I'm moving to Springfield in a few weeks. Mind if I PM you a few questions?

I haven't bought from any Illinois breeders myself. I got my English girl from Lindsey in Ohio. There is also a guy in Racine WI that has hand-raised full English that I'm getting a cockatiel from. I can get you his info if you would like. Actually, now that I think about it I did talk to an IL guy about his English. They weren't hand-tame, but he was a BAA breeder I believe. Would you like me to PM you his info? Not sure if they have half-English if you only want a half, but they definitely have full-English.

The best option for you for finding breeders will probably be the IBF (International Bird Fancier) Fair, which is being held in Springfield on Sept 29th from 9-4 at the State Fairgrounds. I went to the spring show and there were multiple English breeders there, both parent-raised and hand-fed. You could look there and either get a baby or just collect business cards (like I did at the last one). There are also lots of toy/supply/food vendors. Here is the link to the Fair: http://www.illinibirdfanciers.com/bird_fairs.shtml It isn't huge, but definitely decent sized and lots of breeders with birds for sale. I will hopefully be attending the Fall Fair myself. Moving status depending.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you want the contact info for the WI breeder or the IL guy.
