Lost budgie(what to do?)

2622 Views 11 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Niamhf
One of my budgies flew away today. 10 minutes later I saw it fly by my house. I put the other budgie outside in its cage hoping it will come back but it didn't. The Remaining bird seems very upset. What should I do? Should I wait and try find the budgie or buy a new one tomorrow so it doesn't get lonely? Thanks

How did your budgie manage to escape?
I truly hope you will be able to get him back.

People have recovered budgies after several days and sometimes even several weeks when someone finds them and turns them in. I would not suggest getting another bird at this point in time. And, if you to get another budgie at a future date, please don't forget that you'll need to quarantine it for 4-6 weeks.

The top of the cage came loose after something hit it and we managed to trap one indoors. Thank you

I will take my budgie and its cage out tomorrow again in case it's still near by. But do you think it will live in the UK with other birds and cold?

Lost

There is always a chance. Whenever I remember the budgie I had fly away,
I send him a blessing and pray he found a good home. chubby was sky blea and white pied and I loved him a lot. I try not to think of all the potentials and pray for the best. You could leave seed and millet spray off of the ground near where you set your cage. He may come by when food is short. and possibly stay near. The cold winter is hard on unprotected budgies bud when adjusted can live with snow near the aviary. Prayers for your budgie. Flyers are good and check vets and humane societies. I offered a reward but I never saw Chubby again . Wishing your baby home safe and sound. Jo Ann:p:budgie:

Agree with the other comments - flyers, food out and call around...Praying he comes home, or someone recovers him for you.

Hoping with all my heart for your little one's safe return! Don't loose hope yet. In case he doesn't ever show up, I would agree another little one is good to be a friend to your current budgie, but don't think about that until you're positive you won't ever see him again.
Please keep us posted!

Yes there's every chance the budgie will survive, I lost my budgie in august 2013, horrible day I'll never forget and despite my best efforts I never saw him again, I can only hope someone found and took him in.

Reason I say there's hope is I had a 100% confirmed sighting of him 3 weeks after he flew away and after all that time he was seen just up the road from here. I would put posters up around the area and post on every lost pet site you can think of, parrot alert is one and I would also contact john Hayward to add your lost budgie to the lost & found bird register that he maintains Lost and Found Registry, I certainly wouldn't give up hope of getting your budgie back.
