My hen had had 3 of her eggs hatch so far.She is a Lutino.My **** is a yf1 skyblue greywing opaline.

I thought I read somewhere that when lutinos and albinos are born,you can see their red eyes.

Is this true?

Do I have to just wait and find out whether any will be lutinos?

Lutinos are inos which are sex-linked meaning the male must have 2 genes to show it getting one gene from each parent while the females just needs one gene to show it visually.

For your case, you will not get any inos (lutinos or albinos) if the dad does not have this ino gene (split for ino also will do). You will instead get male chicks which are split for ino.

Dad's parents both look like him.

Would all the chicks just look like dad then? I don't mind at all. Would an offspring male bred with a creamino female have more possibility of getting an ino?

I believe all chicks will be greens as green is dorminant over blue.

You will get normal greens and opaline green females. All male chicks will be split for ino/opaline/blue. All female chicks will be split for greywing/blue.

Yes, the offspring chicks if mate to a creamino female will produce inos of both gender.

As has been said you will only get lutino or albino chicks if the dad also has the gene. If there are no other mutations involved your female chicks will be opaline & the male chicks will be normal. They will all be green unless your lutino is split for blue.

For budgies, there are only 2 base/body colours which is green for yellow birds and blue for white birds. In your case, the lutino hen's base/body colour is green. This is the reason you will get green chicks provided she is not split for blue. If lutino hen is split for blue, you will get both green and blue chicks.

As Jimm said, your lutino is actually a green bird that has been stripped of her green and black colors, leaving only the base yellow color. She's still a green bird and while she will pass on her lutino gene (the gene that would cause a bird to look just like her), it is a recessive gene and would require a matching one from the male in order to display in the nestbox.

Understand that the green series birds are dominant over the blue series birds, BUT in your case the specific gene of lutino (the gene that causes green series birds to appear all yellow) is recessive, so the dominant green that your bird truly is will still be dominant over your blue based bird, but her lutino GENE is recessive and will likely not show up in your nest.

The albino is the all white bird that would be the equivalent of your lutino but in the blue series, not the green. An albino is a blue bird stripped of it's black and blue color but is still a blue bird.

Since green is dominant over blue, and your male is a blue bird, the green would prevail provided your male does not carry the lutino gene that would match with your female's lutino gene and give you babies that look like her.

I may have confused you further, but hopefully a little of that made sense.

This is put very well. I know NOTHING when it come to breeding, what gets what and so on, and I understand this completely. So a green and yellow budgie bred with a blue/cobalt will produce all green chicks?

Thank you for the explanations. I breed spaniels,and predictioning colors has to do with the colors in their lines too, the recesseive gene thing confused me for a bit.My dogs...I KNOW the lineage,and can predict. Split to me sounds like lineage. I have no clue when it comes to the ancestors of this pair of keets,well besides the dad.He came from a breeder. I can only wait and see what colors they will be.I'm sure they will still be beautiful. Just a shame I probably wont get any lutino colored. With dogs,if ones buff,ones black,at least I would get both in the same litter.Birds are just weird in that I wont get any that look like mom.

not just weird in birds... i am sure there are sex linked traits in dogs too... not sure if any colours are though.
