This is a picture of Marci not long after I got her as a baby, a lot of budgies from that store had violet, and this photo picks up her purpley colour very well, I always wondered if she was a violet mauve, as an adult she is the same, she is YF1 so her body colour didn't really change much apart from being shiny in certain lights. Any ideas on what her mutation is? So far I have only been able to guess. Thank you in advance! and as a warning.....there may be more of these, my budgies are confusing me with all their lovely colours :p

Me too, I read about them a lot, with photos, but I still have trouble even with my own flock! I have never seen another budgie this colour, well this exact shade anyway, I did wonder if she was grey but does violet even show on a grey? maybe she is just plain mauve with no violet, I just don't know lol, but what I do know is she is the friskiest budgie I have ever known! Her hormones are wild  but she got the brown cere for a while then it went back to normal, but her behaviour did seem very male, it has raised some questions......and eyebrows lol.

Like i said i dont know mutations at all yet, but i do think she is more a grey/mauve, then a violet.

After a quick rummage for mauve budgies i did come across this:

Which is almost the very same, just she has a yellow face, but the other colours are pretty bang on. So yeah i think she's a mauve.

I hope i kinda helped anyways lol

She looks too dark to be mauve. Is the picture color true to her color in real life? I would say double factor grey. She's so pretty! :)

Yf blue/gray opaline would be what I say. Erin is good at these mutations so hopefully she will see and confirm or not.

Thank you all, and yes I would say this is true to her colour by my eyes. Even seeing her in person it's difficult to say which mutation she most resembles, she doesn't seem quite right for any of them, which is why I wondered if there was a violet factor involved, not just for the purpley hue but the brightening effect it has, but I thought grey would completely hide violet, I may well be mistaken there though :p and there may be no violet involved at all, poor Marcie, she's an oddball! hehe, a lovely one of course :p

I'm so sorry I have tried to edit my post, typed it out but will not allow me to save the changes, I can't get to my computer to do it either. Was going to say, being yf1 Marcie only has tiny bits of the yellow bleeding into the main body colour at the throat and base of the tail, the added yellow turns her body colour a deep teal, if she was yf2 she would be a very unusual bird indeed, thought that info might give some clues.

Thank you :D do you think she might have a violet factor? or is that wishful thinking :p she came from a violet factor crazy store haha! Even if not though her colour is very unique in my flock, and with opaline too, shes a looker, shame the boys aren't interested! poor Marcie

Hi Azurei

A frontal body colour picture would help whether the violet factor is present or not ?

I wanna see ribbling or uniformity in colour. Marcie is a stunner for sure. No boy should see an ugly duckling in her.

awww thank you. I think her hormones are putting them off, she is the one who rubs her vent on things constantly! I try to discourage the behaviour but only for the fact that she might get an infection from doing it, she tries to get attention from the boys but they all seem to run away if she tries to 'kiss' them! Will see what I can do about a pic, be nice to compare her now to her baby picture, they are all asleep at the moment bless them :p

Boys wanna see ultraviolet glow in cheek patches. This is their attractions for hens and vice versa. Marcie, you better have it, else you would stay a spinster ...hehehe

hehe bless her, if only we could see what they can see! I do feel sorry for her, she just wants to be loved :p Maybe the new baby will love her when he grows up a bit, I see her being the type to pick a male and be all like 'you're mine' whether he likes it or not! If I ever wanted to breed her it might be an issue but no plans for that yet :p although baby Marcies would be gorgeous I'm sure :D hmmm tempting hehe.
