Meet Bella

Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a lovely feathery egg named Bella, she is 4 years old and loves chirping at all hours of the day, landing (and pooping) on my head, and being terrified of every little change in her room!

Unfortunately her cagemate died after a 6 month battle against bouts of avian gastric yeast early this year so she has been a little lonely. I hope to be her new best friend at least for the time being until I make a decision about getting her a new bud!

Bella's name suits her well. She is definitely a beautiful budgie!
Bella is adorable! Do you have other photos showing the cere up close? I think he may be male ;)
Whaaaat, I thought female budgies had pink ceres when mature and males had blue!

Bella is definitely a beautiful male! You are partially correct, mature males of most mutations have royal blue ceres when mature. However, immature males (but not immature females) have shiny pink or purplish ceres with no hint of white which normally turn blue, except in cases of recessive pied, dark eyed clear, and albino/lutino budgies. Budgie males of these mutations keep their immature pink cere color their whole life (females of all mutations have pale whitish, chalky pinkish, pale blue, or pale beige ceres with a matte finish and a flattish appearance when immature and when in condition the ceres are brown, as you probably already know).

Belle looks to be very heavily pied (I'd say combination pied, which is recessive pied in addition to another pied mutation) from the photos, which would give him the pink cere his whole life. He's actually so heavily pied that I suspected dark eyed clear at first but he does have some patches of black feathers.. do you have other photos of him?

Since he's used to his name I really don't think you need to change it~ or if it really bothers you, you could always call him "Bello" since that means "handsome/gorgeous" in Spanish~

Hahaha, Bella is a name we kept for HIM since his last owner was convinced he was a female and we didn't question it too much. This is hilarious.

It’s great that your two little ones get along great and also are both male so you don’t have to worry about accidental breeding 😁👍🏻 Hope to see more of them soon~
Unfortunately the blue one is Kkojib (Korean name) and he died earlier this year due to AGY :(
