So I was waiting to post about her until I knew what was going on. My mom has two cats, Dora is hers and Charlie is "mine". Recently, Dora has been not well. For the past week I have been racking my brain, and searching the internet high and low for an answer, but to no avail. I read about one of her many problems last night, a mammary mass, and the article said that over 85% of all mammary masses are malignant, or cancerous. My heart broke. I was taken back to Mini's cancer, and that terrified me. She is currently still with my mom, and just today stopped eating. My mother said that if she doesn't pass on by her appt, sh'e going to take her in. My heart is breaking, for my mom especially. I was hoping she'd pull through, but I don't think that's going to happen. I'm just looking for a little support for this.

It's never easy to let go of one of our beloved family members (human, furry or feathered).

If Dora is in pain or seems to be suffering, helping her move on her journey will be the kindest act of selfless love your Mom can give to her.

Prayers for you and your Mom during this difficult time. If you need to talk, feel free to send me a PM, Kristen.

Well, I thought I would let you all know that Dora had to be put to rest today. She was in obvious pain, and my mother wouldn't allow that to continue. I think she knew this morning that this was it, and so she stayed with her and cried all day. Dora stood up and wailed in pain, and mom decided that was it. It was done sometime today between 4:30pm and 5:45pm. My mom's heart is broken, and I don't know how to help her from here. I hurt so much for her.

Kristen,

Just be there for your Mom.
That is all she really needs and wants from you right now. Just knowing that you are there and understand how much she's hurting is the support she needs.

Let her cry, let her hurt and let her grieve.
She needs to feel free to do all those things right now. Feeling the pain of letting go is part of what we all go through when we love deeply.

Listen, be there, and support her as she goes through the process.

Prayers for you and your Mom.
My deepest condolences in the the passing of Dora.

Kristen, I'm so very sorry for your mum and you. Your pain at losing your beloved Dora is immense and you just need to be there for each other over the next few days and take the time to grieve in any way that feels right to you..You do not have to worry any more about Dora - she is already an angel, safe and well and happy again.Your mum showed her love for Dora by ending her pain. Mum and I both know what you are going through. In time, your grief will lessen. I am praying that you and your mum will find peace. All the best Kristen at this sad time.

I am so very sorry for the heartbreak this has brought to all of you. Your mom did the brave thing that showed how much she loved dora. If you see your mom sitting and staring at the place Dora normally sat, just go up and give her a hug and let her cry. Sometimes just being able to let the pain you are feeling come out in tears helps more than anything. She will need to cry..we all do when we have to let go. I will keep you all in my prayers and pray for a peace for you.

You and your mother have my deepest sympathies over Dora's passing. :(
Any true animal lover is well aware of how heartbreakingly difficult it is to reach that decision and to say goodbye to a much beloved pet.

My prayers are with you and your mother at this very challenging time.
As you begin to heal, the grief will lessen and the memories of the good times you had with Dora will give you comfort. She will forever be close to your hearts.

Rest in peace, Dora.

Thank you so very much everyone. My mother is heartbroken, as you all can imagine. She told me that she woke up crying this morning, and it just broke my heart to think about that. I know and she knows that Dora is no longer suffering and that she is well and happy at the Rainbow Bridge, where she will wait for Charlie and my mom. I know my mom is grieving, and it's so hard to not be able to physically console her during this impossibly difficult time. I was an only child, and I'm not living with her anymore, obviously, and so her cats are basically her kids now.

My mom has one of the biggest dang hearts I have ever come to know. It's one of the things that I love most about her. When I found my cat, Charlie, who was a stray at the time, I didn't have to beg too long for her to let me take him in. I believe that he lead her to taking in Dora. And I'm so glad that she did, because Dora was a beautiful soul, and she was gorgeous. I will post some pictures of her when my mother feels up to sending me some. I will post them here when I get them. She was a calico colored cat, with a huge, trusting heart, and the worlds biggest eyes. She just looked happy when you looked into those loving eyes of hers. It's going to be so weird to not see her anymore when I go up to visit.

Kristen, I'm so sorry that Dora has passed on now.

Your mom did the right thing by letting her go in peace, and she will remember her darling cat forever as she was, immortalised in her memory as the happy, loving cat she was.

Please pass on my condolences to her and I wish you both all the best during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, darling Dora, run wild and free over the Rainbow Bridge.

Kristen when this time comes we all experience the huge ache and feel as though our hearts are actually hurting, this is because of the understanding and love between two living beings. It is amazing and so good to experience this as we all know.
Now more than ever your Mum will need your love to guide her through these hard times. Dora is still with her in a little part of her heart. The good memories will shine once more and smiles will return, peace and happiness to you and your Mum Kristen.
