I am aware now that green is a dominant colour.

My breeding pair are a green male and a blue female, i was told my babies would all be green unless my male was split for blue.

He does have dark blue tail feathers which i have always thought strange as it appears nowhere else on his body.

does this mean he is split for blue?

All normal blue and green type budgies have dark blue tails. grey have black

split means that he has the blue gene. (if his mum or dad was blue) then he is split for blue

looks at their tails
