So I had less than a week to get a hat and car seat blanket done for my mom, who wanted to give it to a family member who is going to pop at the end of the month. Well, I gave myself the deadline. Mom was going to Florida for a week, and she stopped here on her way down. That was on the 3rd. I got the hat done in about 20 minutes, and I had to buy the yarn as I went because I didn't know how big I wanted to make the blanket, plus I was a little short on cash til she got back here. Anyway, I put the final stitches in the blanket at around 1pm today. Here are the finished products!!!

Beautiful! Quite a feat for such a short time frame

I crochet a little but hardly have any time  Those are wonderful and I'm sure the new mum will love them :D

Thank you so much! I wish I had pictures of the first set I made for another mom to be at the time. Mom is actually paying me for them too! I got $25 for the set, a family discount! In the amount of time I had before she got back, I would have charged a bit more for anyone else. But she did buy all the yarn required, so that was also just for "labor". It's great fun for me and so relaxing. I actually started to nod off midway through the 3rd skein of yarn, and that was the 1st for that day. I try to challenge myself to see what I can get done in a short amount of time. I'm actually starting on a couple new projects now. Mom wants a scarf for herself, and I'm making the mother in law a blanket when I get the right hooks. I already made mother an afghan, and my dad a scarf and hat for this winter. My dad's stuff was put waaaay on the back burner for about a year, and I just finished that project about 2 months ago. Anyway, I'm glad you like it. If you all have any requests, feel free to pm me, and we can figure something out!!!!!

That's awesome, Kristen! I'll have to let you know if I'm ever craving an afghan or similar item ;) Sounds like it was a lot of rewarding labour :D

The hat and blanket are lovely, Kristen.
I'm sure the Mom-to-be will appreciate them tremendously.

I've moved your thread over to the "Talk Crafters" section of the forum. :)

Oh this is very exquiste, Kristen! Lol, of course this is a craft that I have absolutely no aptitude to ever attempt, but I can really appreciate the handiwork and labor of love put into it through observing my mother's creations as a kid. You have such talent...and I could sure use a new beanie for the winter:D

Pete, thank you! I didn't realize that you knit. For me, knitting is a bit intimidating. Not sure why. Maybe because I picked up crochet first? Anyway, my point is, thank you!!!

Wonderful job and so quickly too. I also happen to crochet, loom, try to knit now and then, and would sew more if I had a better sewing machine. :juggle:

I look forward to seeing more of your projects

Now I feel less alone. :p

Definitely not alone in that aspect! I love to crochet. I am actually starting a scarf for my mom as we speak, tunisian stitch, for the winter.

I will definitely post some pictures of my mom's scarf when I finish it. I've already started, but it has to be about 8 feet long! I only have about 6 inches done so far. I'll probably be on this for a while.
