Hi everyone! I am not sure on mutations again. So am looking forward to finding out. So Puff, the little blue guy is just weaned, so not through his first molt yet. Hit tail feathers are smokey grey. Citron hatched in September and has just finished his first molt. His tail feathers are grey and so are the non-yellow parts of his flight feathers.

My guesses. Puff is a sky blue dilute spangle and Citron is a light green violet greywing. I am not sure what his siblings looked like but a lot looked like him. I think the girls were opalines. His clutch mates are all violets to varying degrees so I know he is violet.

How did I do?

They are lovely little birds! I'm guessing they are
grey wings. Your little Puff looks just like my Gypsy,
and I've been told she is a sky blue greywing. I'm
not so sure about Citron, but greywing sounds likely.
I'm sure someone else here will know far more than
I do and hopefully provide you with a definitive answer :)

These guys are driving me nuts! I can't decide if they are spangles or not. Puff is such a soft soft blue, so much lighter than Owl who is sky blue. Does that suggest dilute? Citron's violet factor complicates things because it is hard to tell how diluted his body color is.

Actually I was just holding both Oliver and Citron and realized their body color is the same, just the black is grey on Citron. So I guess he is a dark green violet full body greywing and that probably makes Puff a sky greywing but I will probably have to wait for his molt to tell for sure. He seems more than 80% lighter than my other sky blue baby.

Puff is a sky blue greywing, and Citron looks like a violet dark green or olive clearwing. He could be a fullbody greywing, but I wouldnt expect his cheek patches to be quite that dark even with the violet... They are not spangles though. Do you know what the parents mutations were by chance? :)

Thanks so much Lindsey! I don't know but I could get pictures from my breeder. She would be interested to know your opinion too. She is new to breeding budgies. They mostly do larger birds but she is loving these guys now.

I'll ask and post when she gets back to me.
