I tend to like perfumed flowers too Cathy. I used to propogate roses so I had many varieties, all perfumed. I only have 2 at the moment, Vision (the Fred Hollows rose), I know the guy that developed this rose, he is a bird breeder, it is similar to Iceberg. And Crepuscule, mine is a weeping standard but it is a climbing rose and flowers pretty much every month of the year and is an evergreen. It is apricot in colour and very fragrant. It is a very old variety of rose.
The other main flowering plant that I have is Datura Grand Marnier or Angels Trumpets. It is also Apricot in colour and very fragrant. Attracts lots of bees. Super easy to propogate. I also have a Rubinia Pseudoacacia Frisia or Golden Rubinia, beautiful lime green leaves and flowers around November with extremely fragrant white flowers that look a little like Wisteria flowers. In the Autumn the leaves go even more golden before they drop. I also have a lavender.
I love Gardenias and also Daphne. Now I have some room I may try to plant one of each. My soil is perfect for both Gardenia's and Daphne and I have the perfect semi shaded spot for them.
