According to Khaleesi, there's no such thing as being too close to me, as you can see from the photo evidence.

Despite Summer's high temperatures, my boy still loves to cuddle up to me

Here he was previously on top of my head and decided to lean down for a birdie kiss and then proceeded by gently perching on my nose and preen my eyelids and eyebrows.

My face didn't get scratched from his feet

Yesterday I was out of town for a good portion of the day and usually when I leave home for a decent amount of time or even a couple of days maximum, I always make it up to my boy by giving him a new toy upon arrival.

He quickly found out how the toy soldier worked

Khaleesi's march with the toy soldier

My boy wasn't very impressed with the new toy, his eyes were all on me for the most part :)

Khaleesi looks so comfy all cuddled up with you, Ana!

I like his "march with the toy soldier picture" too but Peachy thinks the picture would look better if it were
Khaleesi, Peachy and Paddington marching instead. :giggle:

Thanks, StarlingWings! The amount of love really is impressive, he is truly one of a kind. :)

He is a Fischer's lovebird and the special bond we have was due to an unfortunate event where I was forced to take him out of the nest at an early age and raise him myself, the bond came naturally. I was his foster mother and now I'm his best friend and flock mate. :)

What a wonderful relationship you guys have :)
Thanks, Dee! He is the apple of my eye. :)

Thanks, Cathy! And you are absolutely correct, their species name couldn't be more ****ing! :D

Thanks, Cozette! :) I actually didn't teach him, he just started to get into my sleeves and sometimes would come out through my shirt's collar. Now he gets in and out from the collar as well. He likes to cuddle up and nap under my chin.
My tamed budgie chicks also like to do the same thing and run up my arm to hide under my shirt. It's really cute and ticklish too! :D

Thanks, Lyn! Yes, Khaleesi loves to snuggle up to me and take short naps under my chin. He is a very sweet bird. :)
Dear little fellow. I just want to kiss him. I love how they instinctively go down our shirts. I call it "down the shirt time" :)

Yes, it's like they really need to have that level of closeness to us. They really are total sweethearts! ;)

Aw, that is really lovely and so sweet to see.
If you're online just now, could you maybe help me? My birdie buddies usually get on OK, and do sometimes 'kiss' etc, but just before, they were being 'narky' with each other. It was, typically, Jenni (the female!) who would start it but he did a couple of times too. They were pecking out at each other, doing 'threatening' open beak gestures. I wondered if this is maybe because, although it's not hot, its warm today, and maybe that's why they've been a bit quieter too. And/ or was it maybe because J didn't want him on the higher perch with her? They seem ok now, so hopefully it was just a passing thing, maybe just like siblings squabble a bit and then are ok??....but in case not.....help!:)
(I have had a read of the 'Stop the fighting' article).
Sometimes budgies will have light bickerings, this can happen over a favourite spot on the cage, a toy they both want to play with or over food. This is why it's best to keep everything in twos on a cage. Two toys of the same type, two food dishes, two swings, etc.
When there is constant chasing/bullying, heavier pecking sometimes resulting in feather plucking, this is when drastic measures should be taken and the budgies would need to separated on a permanent basis.

Thanks, Gaby! Khaleesi is potty trained and never poops on me. He has his "pooping box" he goes to when needed. :D

Thanks for your advice.
Does your bird really use a pooping box? That's amazing!! Was it very hard to train him to do that?..?...:budgie:

You're welcome! And for future reference, when you want to ask a question about your budgies, you can create a specific thread for the purpose.

Yes, while I was hand feeding Khaleesi as a chick, I naturally got in tune with him and got to know when he was about to poop and in order to prevent him from pooping on me when I knew it was coming, I used a cardboard shoe box.
Very fast he began associating the box with his need to poop and without intending I managed to potty train my lovebird. :)

Wow,that's interesting! On youtube I saw a few videos about potty training for parrots. But I didn't know that it's possible to potty-train lovies too.:)
