New to the forum but I've had parakeets for several years now. I have 6 parakeets total - 4 females (Ziggy and Zaggy, Paige, and Splotch), 1 male (Jericho), and one unknown (Zephyr, 1.5 months old).

Jericho and Splotch are a mated pair (the second pair I've owned), and Zephyr is their first chick. The mated pair are in one cage and the other three females are in another.

I have a few questions about the breeding and especially the chick
1) at what age should the chick be removed from the parents' cage?
2) the father seems to have stopped caring for the chick but isn't aggressive, does this mean the chick is weaned and ready to leave the nest?
3) the chick wobbles around when it walks and rocks back and forth when sitting still, why?
4) the chick can climb easily enough but it has trouble walking, it sits sideways on its feet, why?
5) I heard that I could remove the mother and the father would finish taking care of the chick, if I do that, can I return her to the all-female cage?

Any tips or answers given would be greatly appreciated, thanks
