Hi, I am new here and would love to introduce my budgies. Rio and Ollie. They are adorable I have had them for 3 months and bonding well. Ollie is quite brave, will step up and adventurous, Rio however is still a bit nervous. I think they are both male ( well that's what I was told). Rio is on the right. X

If you can try to get a picture that's a little less blurry (no flash, full frontal, in natural light) we have a staff member that's great at determining gender! I'm terrible at it since I always question myself. From this picture, Ollie does appear to be a boy. Does the cere (the fleshy part above the beak) look as blue in person? If so he is a boy. The other mutations aren't as strait forward.

If they end up being mixed genders, it's important to avoid breeding. Budgies are better off if they don't produce eggs or raise chick's. Plus it takes a huge amount of experience, knowledge and financial resources to breed birds.

You're right! They are absolutely adorable!
Ollie and Rio are adorable and they are both males.

Hello, nice to meet you! 👋 Your budgies are adorable! I have two budgies as well, Blue and Darcy. Both females. Blue is somewhere between 3-6 years old and Darcy is probably around 10-12 weeks. Darcy is still in quarantine, but fingers crossed they’ll get along once they’re allowed to be in the same cage. 🤞🏻
