We have had Kandi since June and her beak started looking a little off over the past several weeks. She is happy, eating, acting perfectly fine. I had her nails cut at the bird store and the guy who did it said the beak looked fine as well, when he looked at it, but I'm just not sure.

I am tempted to take her to the vet, but don't want to put her through the stress of a long drive if it's definitely not scaly mites. I thought I'd bring it to those who are pretty savvy with all things keet.

Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forums! :)

Unfortunately your beautiful Kandi does have mites. This can be solved by getting an Ivermectin based spot on treatment where you apply a drop of the product on the back of the neck and directly into the skin.
After treatment, you should wash and disinfect the whole cage and accessories (including perches, swings, toys, food and water containers) and also her play area when she has out of cage time.
If you want to save your budgie from being too stressed, you can consult with an avian vet without having to take her with you, this picture you posted is self explanatory and the vet will prescribe her the right treatment for her case.

Good luck, I hope your Kandi will be rid of the mites soon!
