Trying to figure out what gender/roundabout age my bird might be, me/my daughter named them Baby, very chatty and sociable with... Mostly me 😅 we attempted adding a second bird for companionship but they did NOT get along. Not sure who was the problem. Hopefully someone can point me in a direction as far as gender and age goes. I tried my best with the pictures but baby prefers to stand on my phone rather than pose for pictures 😓

Hello there and welcome to the forums!

Baby is so cute. She's a precious little girl! Not all budgies get along well with others, and it sounds like Baby is happy being a solo bird. Budgies are flock creatures so require social interaction but it is not limited only to birds, they can and will consider humans as their "flock" also (that's what my girl is like, too :))

You've come to a great place to learn even more about the best of budgie care practices! Please be sure to read through the forums' many budgie articles and "stickies" to ensure you're up to date on everything. If you have any questions after doing so, please be sure to ask as we'd love to help.

Hope to see you and Baby around the forums!

Cheers :D
Hi, Welcome to Talk Budgies!

The purpose of this forum is to promote the BEST PRACTICES in the care of budgies for their optimal Health and Well-Being

Locating an Avian Veterinarian

Baby is ADORABLE and looks as if she is about 3 months old.
You might want to start an "ongoing" picture thread for her in the budgie pictures section of the forum so we can see more pictures of her in the days to come.

I recommend you remove the wooden dowel perches in the cage and replace them with natural wooden perches of varying diameters to help prevent pressure sores.
