Paddy thinks he's a budgie

Paddington is next to my budgies (in a separate cage) while I'm at work all day.. I know lovies are great mimics but I have just been cracking up with laughter here with him on my shoulder sounding all the world like a budgie!!! He is making all the different budgie sounds and when I laugh he taps his beak up against my cheek the funny little boy.

I have to get it on video for you somehow - it's just so funny!!!!! Oh my giddy aunt ....

Oh wow, little Paddington sure is full of surprises!

How cute it must be to hear him mimicking the budgies, he's very talented and does have a lot of potential to learn human speech.
And yes, I'd love to watch a video of Paddy putting his skills to use!

None of my lovebirds mimic sounds or other birds' chirps. They just talk in their own language, even my Khaleesi who I talk to frequently has never uttered a word.
Then again, the lovebirds I know of that can mimic (that I have seen on Youtube) are of the peach face variety.

Yes, it's pretty cute all right! I love it especially when he does Rio's cranky bossy sounds - so funny! I didn't realise peach faces were the mimics. Funny little things

Maybe they all have their own little lingo going on that I know nothing about. Would not surprise me.

He definitely is a very intelligent little fellow (to say nothing of CUTE!! )

They are most probably talking away like a discussion group or book club when you are at work Dee. Most probably all worn out to talk human talk .:budgie:

Kuzco does this too! Since day one, he's desperately wanted to be one of the budgies. They shun him and ignore him like schoolyard bullies. And like the loser who just wants to be cool, Kuzco gets more and more obnoxious towards them until they run away. He knows all his budgie sounds. I haven't actually heard him sound like a lovebird in over a year.
