Since I just found out about this thread now and I've had peep since Sunday (5-12-13) I will start from that day until current.

5/12/13-Sunday
Bringing my pretty little budgie home was one of the happiest moments of my life. I set up her cage and let her be for a while. I kept her in the front room where there wasn't much traffic. I came out to talk with her about every hour. she stayed stiff and didn't touch her food. I left her be till morning.

5-13-13-Monday
I officially moved her to her room. she was still staying in the same spot but i noticed she ate a little. I sat next to her cage and talked to her for about 15 min every hour. I only did this about 5 times as i had to go to work in the evening shift. I came home to see she had moved around the cage more and not so stiff, also eating a bit more.

5-14-13-Tuesday
Let the training begin! She was pretty used to me being in the room with her and right next to the cage. Skittish whenever I moved around a bit. Soothingly talked to her a lot. Stayed in the room with her for hours at a time. She was getting used to my presence. I let her be as I went to pick up my grandmother to treat her to a movie. when I came back I tried leaving her cage open and placing my hand at the entrance. surprisingly, she did not fly away. she was just very curious and watched it. I did this for a while moving it inches in each time. she didn't fly around, just kept eyeing me. i would coo "good job little birdy" while doing this.

5-15-13- Wednesday
She was completely fine with my hand being in her cage! she is such a smart birdy! I get a small perch and slowly bring it to her. at first, she just moves to the side (doesn't fly off or nothing =D) so I stay still and move it closer to her. pretty soon I get to the point where I have the perch right under her lil belly. she just looks at me. curious as to why I'm doing such a thing. I slightly press up and she is so reluctant to let off her perch. finally, se lifts a foot and I squeal and coo more for her, giving her a nice treat of millet( I can get a small chunk and she will eat it pretty close to my fingers) after 20 min of telling her "up" and her being trained to get on the perch, by the end of the day, she is easier to perch, but I still have to lightly press on her belly and sometimes hold it front of her for a min till she will understand.

5-16-13-Thursday
A full day off to spend with my Peep! I wake up and i read her some of my book, she is really used to my presence now and puffs up whenever i talk to her, enjoying my compliments and sweet talking. After 40 min of reading softly to her, I try the up, Oh she is doing so much better! no hesitation, she puts a lil foot up and latches on, sitting on my tiny portable perch for min at a time. I would read to her, take a break and try "up" for about 3 hours time. Giving her millet the longer she stayed on. I got to the point where I moved the perch face level with me as she fluffed up on it and I talked to her, face to face while she was inside the cage, standing perfectly comfy on my perch while I'm standing right next to it. I'm so proud! she has come so far so fast! I give her a break and just play some music for her while I sit in the room and silently read. after a while I attempt to perch her on my finger. she dances away from it but doesn't entirely fly off. finally, FINALLY after dinner and she ate and is all happy and full she perches my finger!!! I was so happy it was so hard not to smile ear to ear and jump with joy. her feet were so warm and soft ^///^ She does this three times and give her a nice chunk of millet that she now eats from my hand close up (I feel her little chin as she munches down, so soft and fluffy!) I say goodnight on that good note and let her sleep. tomorrow is another big day!

Well, peep is really comfy in her new cage. she runs around and chirps with certain noises I make or if she hears other birdies. bad news, she seemed either grumpy or anti-social =/. I talked to her and she loves it when I talk to her, she puffs up when I sweet talk her. but for some strange reason, she didn't want to step up on her perch! I know she knows how to and I know she isn't scared of my hand! but the second I tried to get her to go "up" she skittered away like she wanted nothing to do with me. I kept trying throughout the day and each time, she wanted nothing to do with it. she happily accepted a treat but didn't want to work on her step ups. so I pretty much just spent time with her and read to her, maybe she just wasn't feeling it and I didn't really want to force her. I really hope this is just a small phase.

Sounds like she has made a lot of progress in just a week! Squiggles gets like that, sometimes I'll wait until she seems more active than usual.
Good luck :D

p.s. I love your icon so cute

Thank you! I love that little picture as well, it looks like the first bird I ever owned <3 and thank you, I will keep at it! she has been really comfy up on her swing and hasn't been moving much. I think its just her relaxing and not wanting to be bothered much :p Main thing is that she knows I want to be her friend and only wish her happiness =3

I woke up Peep with some celery leaves that she was very curious to try. I had tried offering her chunks of apple (she would nibble then pull back un sure of it) and even some broccoli that she did the same thing with. but the celery leaves, he nibbled on and pretty much just licked the water off/flavor but didn't bite into it. I was still happy about her being brave and trying new things. yesterday she didn't want much to do with me like I was saying, so I tried again today... SUCCESS! she took a step forward =D I made her do a few step ups on her perch then I tried my finger again. very slowly, and she was stiff but she didn't run away like she did the past 2 days! wo-ho! So throughout the day I would try to get her to step up. sometimes she would, without hesitation, step onto my finger and stay there for almost a minute. then other times she just sat there puffed up with my finger under her belly. then very rarely, she would skitter away. not in fear I think, just not wanting to be bothered. I didn't try to make her step up too much today, being that she seems to be trusting me more and more. But I would go right up to her cage, eye level with her and talk to her and she absolutely loves it, she puffs up and grinds her beak a little and closes her eyes, very relaxed. I spent time with her talking mostly today, letting her know she isn't being pushed to train. she is doing so well! I am so proud of her!!! I bought some little balls with bells inside them today, and I would jiggle them outside by her cage so she would see how much fun they are. I'm getting her ready to come out of her cage soon and I want her to want to come out! :2thumbs:

It has been a few very busy days! Peep seems okay with my hand touching her at some times, then others she scoots away! I take it as a sign she doesn't want to be bothered. I've been trying to ease off her training a lot and mainly want to get her to fully adjust to her new settings. even though she made so much progress, I feel like I went at it a little too fast. So the past few days i've been focusing more on me talking to her up close and personal more then trying to get her to go up on my finger =D So I think I'll still give her the next few days to focus on getting to know me more without me trying to bother her ^^

Welcome to the forum, there are many experienced and friendly people here all willing to help whenever:)
It sounds like you are doing very well at getting your baby to be comfortable around you. Have you tried covering the cage on three sides, this makes them feel safe and therefore more willing to comply:)
Don;t try to rush things as tempting as it is, one step forward and two back is qite common:eek: Keep up the great work there are some great reads in the information pages they will give you tips on all sorts of topics have a look:eek:

5/29/13 Wednesday
So I have backed off a bit with Peep, It was hard this weekend because my parents came to visit and my mom went full crazy, and stuck her hand in the cage and scared the life out of peep lol. She remembered the bird I had growing up who was hand tamed and I guess thought Peep was already Tame for it =p. So it was much more noisier this weekend then it's been since I brought her home but I don't think she minded much :) So I've gotten rid of my perch all together now, and every once in a while I will try to get her on my finger. its so cute, she is getting more used to it but still unsure. She will lift her little foot up when my finger is near her <3 she gets on it willingly but then turns right around and jumps off. But still, seeing her knowing what to do, and lifting her foot when I'm near her, means she is learning that I want her to perch! So I will be starting to train again, little by little each day I will have her stay longer and longer on my finger. I'm so excited! She is doing so well and even chattering when I watch T.V with her! She loves House :D

peep has been doing amazing! I have my friend down this weekend and Peep loves watching us! And so far, she perches on my finger no problem! She doesn't even run away, she stays there and lifts up a little foot as my finger comes up. she stays on only for a few seconds before moving back to her perch, then sometimes she lightly nibbles my finger and perches for almost a minute! She is moving along so great! I don't know when I should take her out of her cage though. her wings are clipped, but I don't want to force her out of her cage when she isn't willing to. but I want her to enjoy out of cage time! (she does have a nice sized caged though, so I'm not too worried to rush her from coming out) I love her so much!

6/14/13- Friday

It's been a while since I Last updated. SO much has happened! Peep fully perches on my fingers and knows step-up like a champ. I take her out of her cage a few times a day, getting her used to the house and being outside her cage. she isn't too skittish, but I can tell she isn't 100% at home just yet. She sits on my shoulder, not getting involved in anything but loves to watch me do my activities. And she loves to watch TV with me. She sits on my chest and she lets me rub her little neck! She puffs out and opens her neck so I can scratch it for her. I love petting her and she loves it when I do this. It's the most relaxed I've ever seen her, when im rubbing her little neck. I love this bird so much and we are doing very well with our bonding. She is still only a month old here, but she is doing so great!

Oh I definitely Will be posting pictures!

it's been a LOOOOONG while since I have last updated my lil birdies progress. So much work and life has been happening! But Peep is doing amazing! She loves her outside time. she perches on my shoulder and loves watching tv with me. She loves neck rubs and is totally spoiled because she gets them all the time :D She still is a little skiddish if I move to her really fast. I have to perch her on my finger and baby talk her and move slowly till she opens her neck and fluffs up while I pet her. She still also gets antsy when I take her out of my cage, but she willingly gets on my finger =p.

She does fly to her cage when I go to her room, I wonder if that's a sign she doesn't want to be out as much but when we are in my room, she seems perfectly fine on my shoulder. Sometimes when It's late or if she is grumpy she does fly off and perch somewhere away from me. But over all we are still learning one another! Also!!! I sprouted some millet for her recently and oh boy, she LOVED it! I placed it on my shoulder while we were watching tv and she was just going at it. She was hesitant at first and didn't know she could eat it. she would nibble the sprouts. but then she realized it was food and devoured it. I will try to do this for her once a week or every other week =p
