Hi! This is my first post here, so apologies in advance if this shows up funky.

I have four budgies. They’re untame, but happy! I try to research as much as I can about budgies, and I’ve read fruits and vegetables are good for them! However, my budgies absolutely will not touch it. I’ve tried leaving it in smaller chunks, hanging leafy greens off the top of the cage, sticking some cucumber in there, but they just won’t eat it! They enjoy chewing and playing so i’m hoping they’ll see a strawberry i put in there today as an opportunity.

Other than that, I really have no idea what to do.

Hi there and welcome to the forums!
You’ve come to a great place to learn even more about the best of budgie care practices!

It’s normal for budgies to not immediately take to vegetables, and the best thing to do is keep trying, and chop it, mix it, and hang it however you can to keep trying to pique their interest. One thing that’s really popular with budgies usually is hanging wet leaves, like celery leaves, lettuce, cilantro, or parsley from the top of the cage. They usually love to at least roll around in it! 😁

Meanwhile, you’ll find more tips in the forums’ many budgie articles and stickies, including about introducing veggies. If you have any questions after reading through things, please be sure to ask as we’d love to help.

Hope to see you around! 👋
