Just got permission from the girlfriend to find one of my budgies a mate. She's the odd girl out right now and has been stirring up trouble. I like the colorful birds with like the mixed blue and greens or the rainbows (anything different and colorful). I realize getting birds like that will take more than one breeding, but I'd like to get on the right track. I'll likely be buying from a pet store so I won't know what the bird is split for. As far as visible traits, what should I look for? I'm interested in the greywings or cinnamons so I'll be looking for that. I also like the double factor dominant pieds. I just don't want to go buy a blue bird to breed more blue birds, no what I mean. I want to work toward something. What types of color patterns need a good cobalt to develop? Even if I just breed to a green in order to get a needed split, that is something. Just don't want to stick two birds together in order to get babies, I want to strive for something. Hope this makes sense to somebody and they can help.
Thanks in advance.
