Hey guys, on tumblr I just came across this post. Beautiful Rosie needs a new home!
I messaged this lady about 'Rosie' (not a confirmed female) and she agreed that I could share this here to try and give her a better chance of finding a new home with a bird loving family. :)

If anyone is interested, you can reply, or message me and I will pass your enquiry on. below is the picture and the exact information that was posted with Rosie.

Red-crowned Amazon
Female (unconfirmed)
5 years old
Rosie came to me suddenly and as a bit of a surprise almost two years ago. The only bird I'd had before her was a GCC, and I was far from prepared for an Amazon. I love her and I've been doing my best by her, but my best isn't enough, especially lately. Between my health and work, I have nowhere near enough time and energy to give her the care and attention she needs. I've been trying to make it work, but I've finally come to face the facts. So now, I have to put my feelings and pride aside and do what's right for Rosie: She needs a new home.

So here's where you come in, Tumblr! I've seen how much the birdblr folks love their feathered friends, and I'm hoping some lovely person out there will be interested in giving Rosie a great new life!

She was seen by a vet on 01/06/16 for an exam, wing clip, and nail trim. She received a clean bill of health excepting a stubborn minor Vitamin A deficiency. I opted not to get her the polymarvirus vaccine because I was short on funds and she doesn't come into contact with other birds. I am willing to split the cost of the vaccine with whoever adopts her, though, as I know how important it is to keep your pets safe. (Fun note: the vet remarked on how she's surprisingly quiet for an Amazon, so that's a plus.)

Rosie would do best with only one caregiver, as she is definitely a one-person bird, but there could always be exceptions to the rule. I think she definitely has a preference of women over men, as she very clearly lets male people know her opinion of them. She's never bitten anyone, though, which amazes me. My dad, whose incessant attempts to win her over only **** her off, has never gotten anything more than lunging out of her. I would've taken a chunk out of him several times over, tbh. Come to think of it, she might dislike men specifically because my dad is freaking annoying as hell and doesn't take any hints to back off.

Zupreem fruit blend is the staple of her diet, and she's frustratingly picky about other foods (especially since my father tried and failed to win her affection through freaking Doritos). She does enjoy butternut squash, sweet potato, egg whites, and chicken, so maybe there's hope for her yet.

The cage she has is the same one she arrived in because I've never been able to gather up the funds for a new one, and she would need to have a new one waiting for her. (Seriously, there are a few scary rusty places and two of the wheels come off when I try to move it. That thing isn't going with her, it's going to the street.) Of course, I would send her toys, food, and perches with her, though.

I cannot stress how important it is that her new owner be familiar with Amazons and know what they're getting into. Trust me, I was not prepared and we're both paying for it.

I live in the New Orleans area and would be willing to travel a bit to meet someone (preferably from Louisiana or Mississippi, but exceptions can be made). If you're interested, please contact me via the chat function. If you're not, please reblog this anyway so you can help Rosie find a great new life!

Wow, she is just gorgeous

It's wonderful you've posted this on the forums, hopefully one of our members knows someone who would be willing to take her or even has an empty amazon cage lying around somewhere ;)

Keep us posted if you hear anything else! I do hope Rosie gets a good home :) :fingerx:

We're all rooting for Rosie to find the most suitable family that will be able to give her a loving environment and all the proper care she deserves. :)
