Hi everyone, today I noticed that my budgie Sky who is currently mounting right now has one of those pin feathers at the top of his head one of them is red and is sticking out like the rest of the feathers, I'm really worried and I'm not sure what it is. Should I talk to a professional l, go to the vet or call someone? Is it normal


Please please please help me 🙏

When feathers are growing in they have an active blood source which dies up as the feather matures, it is nothing to be concerned about unless it breaks, if that happens you need to stop the bleeding immediately with styptic powder, please read through this link Information on Blood Feathers

Sky is SO handsome! Cody is correct and has given excellent advice. It's perfectly normal for a moulting budgie and as his feathers grow in then the redness will go away.
