Hi everyone!

I'm about to get a new budgie (or two!) after not having any for the past 5 years...
Problem is, I'm completely out of touch with cages now... I know the minimum dimensions etc, just not able to sort through makes!
I need a large door (limited mobility and fat arms!) and would like at least one, preferably two higher side doors (like the ones folks use to hang bird baths.)

I had this cage I loved, but it disappeared during a house move when I was without birds... And I can't find what it was now! Anyone recognise it? Or has something similar to suggest?

Here is a photo of it... I'm in the U.K.

Thanks!

I am not in the UK and I am not familiar with that cage but I love the picture you posted.:giggle: If I looked at the cage by itself I would not think it was as large as it is.

I know right? I was gutted that I can’t use it again. Oh well... Off to do some online shopping, and I will maybe come back and share some of my options for advice, if that’s ok!

I really look forward to having some chirpy birdies again!

My shortlist of cages

Ok, so these are the cages I've narrowed it down to right now... To house two budgies.

Reminder: Ideally would like a largish front door, and at least one (preferably two) higher up side doors (like the ones people attach baths or nesting boxes on.)

Would love to hear feedback, and especially would love comments (or photos!) from anyone that has owned one of these...

1) Waldorf top opening cage

2) Savic primo 60 (normal or the higher open top one.) I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE. My only issue is the door size.

3) Imac Tasha (I like the divider, just in case I need to separate a bird temporarily... Like the side doors. Can't see the front doors -any experience?)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Imac-Tasha...d=1560119852&s=gateway&sr=8-98&srs=1736875031

4) Ferplast Piano 6 - Like this, but unsure about size of doors, and I've heard people complain about the feeders with Ferplast. How much of a problem are they?

5) Voltrega -most budget option, two different models, great size, can't find any good photos of doors etc.

Or

Would love some feedback!

From one of the pages Deborah suggested to you above, this cage is a good one. If you can pay just a little more, this "flight cage" style will be well worth it in the long run.

These Hagen Vision ones are good sturdy ones too. This one is a good size for two budgies.

Or this one. It's nice to have the width.

Whatever you choose, make sure the bar spacing is no wider than 1.27 cm (1/2 inch).

I had the feeling the Hagen Vision ones were a bit too narrow? (Good height and width, not enough depth.) Am I wrong?

Yes, it is a bit narrow. It can pass as being okay, but it's not the very best shape. I mentioned it because they're made well. But there's no slide out tray, so you have to lift the cage off the base to clean, which is a bit different too.

I ended up ordering the Ferplast Piano 6, Zooplus had an awesome price for it, and it’s massive. I just hope the feeders are not that bad.

That cage looks awesome. I have never tired to order a cage out of the USA.
Please let us know how you like it when it arrives.

It’s here, just assembled it!

First impressions: It is HUGE. It is seriously unbelievably roomy for a cage that’s not floor standing Aviary style. It’s not hard to put together, and I did it alone in about 15-20 minutes (including a false start.) I haven’t put the feeders together yet, though.
Cons: I don’t know how it compares to other cages, but the plastic feels quite soft and flimsy. The base arrived with two of its corners broken, even though it was well packaged. I’m sure I could get a replacement, but it doesn’t affect use and I don’t care enough. The plastic frame around the top grill is soooo soft and bendy, I was worried I was going to break it while I was putting it together (I do tend to be quite impatient and heavy-handed with my stuff.) With a bit of care, it didn’t break, and it does feel quite solid and stable when it’s put together.
The doors are roomier than I feared and placed at mid-height at the front, which means I can reach all areas of the cage fairly easily -which I was worried about.
Did I mention it’s HUGE? It’s almost a metre long and when I put my arm in through the front door, I have to go in past my elbow to touch the back.

All in all, very pleased with it. Now to decorate!

I like that, and especially because of the horizontal bars, be sure to post pictures once the birds have moved in.

Will do, I don’t even have birds yet -just getting the set up ready while I’m waiting!
Hopefully will have my new little pets in the next couple of weeks though.
