Hi all,

I have this budgie and I am not sure what is his color mutation

Here is the pictures:

Is he a Slate or Anthracite?? or maybe Two dark factors in a blue (white-based)??

Thanks in advance:budgie:

I think he is a grey, probably with no dark factor (over sky blue)

Anthracites and slates are both very rare and both would darker than your bird. An anthracite would have almost black cheek patches

He appears to have a bad dose of scaley face and requires treatment. The most effective remedy is bird strength ivermec one drop is applied to the skin at the back of the neck

I am pretty sure he is gray. He looks a lot like my gray male Buck.

Thanks all for your help, really appreciated.

I suspected it would have mites, thanks for confirming nev90.

I have ordered Ivermectin Solution for treatment.

Thanks again :D

Anthracite popped out in Germany rather 'recently' so someone would have had to have imported birds. Anthracite is a recessive mutation. It takes a double factor to show the charcoal coloration.
