I'm having some issues posting pictures right now, but I will soon as I can.

My yellow budgie, Roxy, is definitely unwell. I thought she was acting strange before but this morning she was just exceptionally bad.

Behavior: Twitchy, occasionally shakes very badly, having trouble staying balanced, sometimes falls off perch, seems disoriented

Appearance: Feathers out of place, seems to be losing too many feathers, and the WORST thing: just below her beak, it seems wet and tinged red. Blood possibly??

ASAP Monday when I'm able to call the closest place that treats birds, I'm going to make an appointment with a vet. I'm super scared about the cost but that's a moot point I guess..

But in the meantime, can someone give me advice on what I can do for her?

She only has one cagemate, a bluebird named Pixel who seems perfectly healthy. I'm going to separate them just in case. They pick on each other sometimes, but I know they love each other....I hope she doesn't get even more anxiety by being separated from her friend...

Please try and find an emergency avian vet, your budgie sounds like she is suffering from a neurological type of condition. Take out any perches, toys that could hurt her place a soft cloth in the bottom of the cage, have food and water down low and keep her extra warm.

Thank you for the responses. I thought she seemed a bit better today, but just now I found her on the bottom of her cage. That's never happened before. I set her back on her perch and as I look at her now at least she appears to be eating and drinking ok....

First thing tomorrow I'm making an appointment for her. I don't know of any emergency services....
Hopefully I'll have an answer to why she is ill soon and I'll talk about it more on here.

Prayers for your little bird. At the moment following Cathy and Kate's advice is about all you can do.
Please do keep us posted...

Well.....Roxy was looking a lot better today, but I still made the appointment. She's still kind of shaky and not preening very well but otherwise no obvious issues. I told the vet about how she had been the days prior.

Where I went was the only place they treat birds in my town, but they said I would need to go see someone who specializes more in birds to see what might be wrong.
I feel a little mislead, their website gave me the impression they were well prepared for birds, but apparently it's a really rare thing there and when they do get them it's just for wing clippings or whatever.

I'm thinking/hoping she's fine now and it was sort of a fluke? Or a small birdie cold?

Have you got Photobucket ? This is the program a lot of members use to post pictures ,it is easy to use and free to down load.
If at all possible A thorough medical check up is advisable for your budgie from what you have told us.. I travel an hour and half each way to take my birds to an avian vet and many more members do like wise.
When we decide to bring these birds into our lives and homes they are entirely dependent on us for their care and well being.
Sometimes it is a hardship and money is tight. Perhaps you can ask for a payment plan, It is a good idea to get a avian fist aid kit organised for future medical emergencies and try to start a bank account for such occasions.
The symptoms you described are not a slight cold or minor problem I feel. Please let us know how things are progressing soon.
