Hi,

that fuzz should be part of the roots. I used to grow sunflowers at home and the sprouts all have this fuzz on their roots.

I looked at it closely, and believe it is ok to feed your birds. Does not look like a problem with the millet. The birds can enjoy it without harm to them. Good you are concerned on what you feed your birds and for their safety.

It's really hard to tell from the picture.

If the "Fuzz" is in clumps and concentrated in certain areas, it's likely mold.

If it's just the roots that look fuzzy, then that's fine. The fuzz that you're seeing is actually just the roots branching out into even more smaller roots. Like this:

Michelle has given you excellent information.

However, although the pictures you posted don't provide a close up of the problem you are having, what I can see does look like mold to me (rather than root hairs) and I would not use those sprouts for my bird.

My guess is that you don't have proper drainage in the containers you are using for sprouting.

If you are growing Broccoli, Radish or another Brassica, or a Grain, and you see what Michelle has illustrated with her photo,
those are root hairs. When you rinse the seeds, they fall back against the main root.

Mold found on sprouts is usually associated with high humidity or lack of air-circulation.

The most common causes of moldy sprouts are:

1. A Sprouter with poor air-circulation
2. Insufficient Draining after Rinses
3. High humidity in your home
4. The Sprouter is not clean enough
5. Growing your Sprouts in a cabinet
6. Rinsing with warm or hot water

The first thing to do is Sterilize your Sprouter.
Next try moving your Sprouter to a spot with better air-circulation and Draining more after every Rinse.
If Heat and Humidity are high, and moving the Sprouter won't do it, turn a fan on (not blowing right at the sprouts) to move the air, add an extra Rinse to your daily routine, or at the very least, use cold water instead of cool when you Rinse.
Never use anything warmer than cool (60-70°) water for your rinse
