I stumbled on this section of the forum while browsing and thought I'd introduce the rest of my family to you all. My 2 budgie babies, Peanut and JoJo are my newest additions and they join Archie (known as Bunk, lil Bunk, Bunch, Bunchy and many other nicknames) is the boss and has been my best friend for the 10 years I've had him. He's seen me through many very difficult times. Then there's Amani the Ragdoll cat who is 6 years old. She enjoys sleeping, snoozing and dozing (& of course she's always locked in another room when the birds are out). Last but not least there's the very amusing and confused Jasper, the miniature horse. He thinks he's either a dog or a bird. He loves to play chasey like a dog and digs like a dog but he eats bird seed and will chase away all the wild birds to get at the seed first. Living in Australia, my yard is full of native birds, like Cockies, Rosellas, King Parrots, Doves, Magpies, Kookaburras and more. I feed them all but the Cockies have become very tame and will eat from my hand. I love watching them all. I've included a pic of one of the wild cockies (hopefully it works).

This is the only pic I can add this way. I keep getting told my pics are the wrong size so I'll have to try just posting links to Flickr pics. Sorry

Thank you both. I adore my little family. They each have so much personality, and are so different to one another. My budgies can see the wild birds from where their cage is and they love watching them and 'talking' to them through the glass. I'm hoping to pick up my new camera today and I'm very excited to think that I might finally be able to get some decent photos.

My babies are growing up!!! I just had to let it out and I figured you guys would understand. I've seen some pin feathers on both birds for the last few days, then this morning I got up to feathers all over the floor (all look to be from Peanut). Is anyone else a sentimental fool like me and saved the feathers??

Aww look at all of the little cheek feathers! Don't worry, you're not the only one who saves the feathers :giggle:

Aww! Birdie feathers! I save them too and was thinking that I need to get a special box to keep them in.

As I have previously mentioned, I feed a lot of wild birds and a lot of the cockies are now quite tame (I don't try to touch them or anything but rather than wait for me to pour the seed into the feeders, they'll stick their heads into the seed container and eat that way. My son actually lets them eat straight from his hands). Here are a few pics of a few of them.

Thanks guys. I think he's pretty handsome too (as does he). Right now I think I have about 30 wild cockies that come to be fed. Some sit back and wait patiently, while others are more demanding and will even come and yell at me through my door to come out and feed them. The King Parrots are also quite tame, but the other species tend to keep their distance. I'm really loving it at the moment because some of the cockies are starting to bring their babies over.
